16MPG is pretty good! :) It's humorous to me how some people assume only liberals drive electric vehicles. When asked why I do, I usually say it's not to save the planet it's because I don't want to buy any more gas. I'd rather burn good old American-made electricity!

I bought two magnets that say "Coal Powered" just to cover my bases ??

maybe I am turning a little bit Liberal, because it is all about ME!
Yet, so far all of the retorts to objections to the Mach E have been of the "it's better for me" variety, as in "I am not a liberal: I bought it because it's cheaper for ME to drive and maintain".

The best thing I heard in one review was that this is actually the way to "save" the Mustang from extinction since the writing is on the wall for ICEs. I hadn't really thought about it that way before
Except that they could have made a Mustang coupe Mach-E. That would have ā€œsaved the Mustangā€ too. They are going to make a Bev Mustang, it’s just going to be a couple years. The dislike from the Mustang guys stems way more from the body style than the power train.

I am far from a liberal. I just like not feeding foreign oil to my cars. And the side benefit that I don't need to fill my tank in town or for trip under 100 miles, ever! When I do need to fill up on the road I still get 60 MPG in ICE mileage with all the creature comforts running.

What is starting to get to me--and I don't even have mine yet!--is that it's almost like we're fighting the "iT's noT a mUStanG!" crowd on the right and the "...buT tHE THerMAl sySTem!" people on the left and I'm just like, "Great, I just want to go to the grocery store in my fun, spacious, fast, non-carbon emitting, never-go-to-a-gas-station-again vehicle, but you know, you do you I guess."

I am one of the ā€œnot a Mustangā€ people. Do not let anyone else’s opinion of your car affect you. The most important thing about your car is that it performs it’s function. It’s secondary function is to bring you happiness, and bringing other people happiness is their cars job.

I absolutely HATE that they used the Mustang nameplate on the Mach-E, but that didn’t stop me from buying, and enjoying the Smurfmobile.

I think Darren Palmer and Dave Pericak had the apt answer to the "#notamustang" crowd without a political take: "Drive one before you make that judgement".

The non-GT is as fast and fun to drive as a V6 or ecoboost coupe, and the MME GT will be just as fun as the V8 GT.

Capris were as much fun to drive as mustangs were at one point. My Mach-E is an amazing, fun SUV. But, it’s not a pony car.

I am not a Mustang guy, but I am a PonyCar guy. I didn’t originally like the Mustang name on the MME but I’m over it. Ford can do what they want with the name.

A lot of conservatives have a knee jerk reaction to EVs because of the (IMHO somewhat silly) environmental justifications for subsidizing and purchasing them.

I’ve had a number of people who sorta know me remark ā€œI didn’t know you were a liberalā€ kinda comments. The stigma is so bad that I strongly considered getting a COALPWR custom plate. I just couldn’t pull the trigger because Kansas’s current vanity plates are horrifically ugly. Like I can’t even describe how gross they are.

I bought an EV because they’re cost effective (especially now that I’ve found free juice) and FAST and FUN TO DRIVE.

Anyway, this is probably a signifiant chunk of the ā€œNot a Mustangā€ sentiment. But then there’s the diehard car fan piece, too.

I love the fact that I won't be spitting out carbon emissions as I drive (and just generally nasty exhaust), but the reality is that not my one car, nor all 50,000 Mach-Es made this year, will really make a dent whatsoever in overall greenhouse gasses. We need much larger adoption for EVs across the board. Until then though, I'll claim my little slice of victory there and enjoy the hell out of that "fast and fun to drive" car of which we're all speaking!
