My GMC truck gets 16mpg when I drive it, but the wife gets 19mpg. (The accelerator pedal seems to stick for me.) I do love my giant truck, but I am so glad we are not going to the gas station every week anymore!

16MPG is pretty good! It's humorous to me how some people assume only liberals drive electric vehicles. When asked why I do, I usually say it's not to save the planet it's because I don't want to buy any more gas. I'd rather burn good old American-made electricity!

I have been to my local Cars & Coffee a few times with the Mach-E. Last week, I took both my Mustangs.

Most people are very curious about the Mach-E and have lots of questions. I have never gotten a negative reaction. I have gotten lots of comments on why Ford called it a Mustang. I give my opinion on why Ford did. Never anything nasty.

I know there are people in my Ford and Mustang club who do not like the Mustang logo on the Mach-E. So far, they have been respectful enough to voice their opinion and nothing beyond.

I think once the Mustang coupe gets electrified with amazing performance, they will shut up.

Some Mustang owners feel resentment. They have a cognitive dissonance not being able to accept that their Mustangs suddenly lost its status, so they figuratively want to bully the new guy whom they see as a challenger. The argument about name is the expression of that passive aggressive mental state.

Same thing happened to me when I got my Ecoboost Mustang. It wasn't a V8, so it could not be a "real" Mustang. Sigh!

The stuff I heard was pretty much unfiltered. I got a ton of "Holy shit that's ugly" and a few variations of "this guy must've voted for Biden" or "fuckin' liberal".

To be fair, I did get a lot of positive comments. But like anything in life...the negative sticks out more than the positive.

I haven't heard any negative comments (yet). The only negatives I encountered were from some Tesla drivers either challenging for a drag race, or suddenly jumping in front of my car, or blocking a lane and not letting me pass them. But I think it's the same phenomenon caused by cognitive dissonance.

Yeah, I lean pretty far right, and teased my conservative friends I may start voting liberal since I got an EV. While an EV is certainly more environmentally friendly than ICE (unless your only source of electricity is from coal), it is not as big a difference as many people believe, and they will not save the planet in and of themselves. I bought one because we needed to replace a vehicle anyway, and the MME is going to save me a lot of money and time over it's lifetime. So, maybe I am turning a little bit Liberal, because it is all about ME! LOL
