I was delivering Christmas gifts last night....POURING rain....cold....very dark. There was something in the road and, well I hit it. I had no choice. Both driver side tires flat. The dinky little roadside tire repair kit was useless. I limped it to a parking lot and used the Ford roadside service app to pick it up at 9am. Needs two tires is all from what I hear.

Sorry to hear that. Is this covered by the new car tire warranty?

There are two things I suggest people who buy these vehicles do.

1) Get tire coverage for a reasonable cost. @Discount Tire sells certificates that would replace those tires. Simply go there after buying the car, even if it's not still brand new (before flats). As I recall, they are ~$40 - $45 per tire.

2) Make sure your glass coverage is low / no deductible (if possible, some companies / states won't do it).

On suggestion to @Camcrid, you just had a collision with debris. Your comprehensive insurance will cover it. Depending on your deductible, that may or may not be worth doing.

My wife hit a pothole and blew out a rear tire. I was out of town. Tire, plus wheel, $900 and change. "Collision with road" per my insurance company. They paid it, I pay $500 deductible, and lose my loss-free discount for 3 years. That amounts to about $50 a year, BUT I was already in year on a clock for that, so net was I think 2 years. Worth doing to net a cost of $400.

Claimed against the state the pothole damage, they require insurance to pay out, then a citizen's board rules. They gave me the $500 deductible, but not the loss-free discount.

Cost of new tire and wheel - $100.

Sorry about that, it's really unfortunate, and I feel for you.

However, a car this heavy amplifies the look of a flat tire, making it somewhat comical.

I've been telling people that it's the flatest tires that I've ever seen.

That's interesting, if it is a comp claim in California, it doesn't count against you at all, as those are deemed not your fault - vehicle stolen, tree falls on car, etc.

Sucks that it did count against you, albeit in a small way. Although my sympathy only goes so far since you get no deductible glass coverage!!

It's not counted against me, but they have a claims free discount (all claims) when you haven't had a claim in 3 years, so when you make a claim you lose that discount.

And, my "no deductible" glass coverage costs me $72 per year for the Mach-E, and $19.2 a year for my 2013 F-150. But of course that's all class, including the roof. One windshield claim (and I've replaced the F-150 windshield) pays for it for more than 10 years.

That's so cool, I asked for it and they just said that's not a thing in California lol.

Yeah, a handful of states won't allow it for some reason.
