Jump Started OTAs?

I seem to have jump started getting OTAs going for me by doing FDRS updates myself.

I decided I could no longer resist the urge to tinker and got a mongoose , power supply and FDRS license. This past Sunday I did my first update session, with some help from the great gang monitoring the FDRS thread. I had some hiccups but it was overall smooth.

Yesterday (Tuesday) I checked for updates in the car and 6.14 was downloading. Coincidence? Maybe, but after several months of no updates it seems unlikely. 6.14 installed, and sketch app is finally where it should be

It seems like many people with 2023's started getting updates either towards the end of last week or the start of this week.

That's more my luck: I sunk money into FDRS right before the updates were coming anyway. Still happy I did it, I'm a hacker by nature and it was fun.

The gateway module update most likely unlocked your next series.

Just curious would you share what the investment ran you cost wise for an FDRS Setup? Also is it pretty complicated applying the updates? I think I heard there's a specific order you have to go in.

My 2023 is one of the ones that hasn't gotten anything since the Tesla SC update back in March. But I do have an appointment tomorrow to have a TSB software update applied (24-2141). Don't know if that will actually help in the scheme of things though. I was kind of hoping that would help to trigger further updates. But I don't think the GWM is part of that TSB update, so probably not (if that's the actual hold up).

I am about $1000 into the hardware, but I bought the expensive power supply. You really can get away for cheaper. Check the FDRS thread for all the deets.

I did the FDRS updates and also got the 6.14 update almost immediately afterwards. Also got the latest ECG-24.2.4.9.1 earlier than most. I would think if the inventory check sees you have everything required for an update already then it's an easy decision to send it.

Also If you have a laptop (or PC with a long USB cord) you can get away with just the cord and power supply for $680 (plus the $50 weekend FDRS licence)

If it makes you feel better, I was one of those 2023s as well until 2 days ago when the “this will help you receive future OTA updates” update installed on its own with no gimmicks. I think they just had us in a holding pattern and are starting to unlock future updates!

I suddenly started getting updates too as did a friend of mine. Neither of us have gotten any updates since February including the supercharger plug & charge update. We've both received the ECG updates but he also received 6.14. I'm hoping I get 6.14 today.

Ironically, yes. We have to pay Ford for access to apply the updates we should be getting free via the OTA process. Go figure.

Unless you’re buying FDRS to update Blue Cruise 1.4….pretty much only thing a 23.5 will notice is Tesla plug in charge (if you haven’t got that). And the sketch icon has moved.

Not a lot of changes have been pushed out OTA since last July IMO at least.
