Snow is the only time I turn off OPD, as my experience has been that I get less sliding with manual application of the brakes, especially on icy hills.

This is beginning to be the first real winter we have had since I took delivery of our Mach-E. I've been playing around with the best settings for slippery conditions. The manual says to drive in Whisper mode, but I don't like the feel of the "engine braking" in Whisper mode: it seems to take way too long to slow down, so I find myself applying the brakes earlier than I would if I were driving my ICE car. I have read that L provides more deceleration than D in most modes. Would driving in Engaged in L be a better option for snow, slush and just generally all slippery conditions?
in Whisper, low does provide more agressive motor braking, which is what you asked for. So, Yes!

I drive on ice and snow for 5 - 6 months. I tried Whisper and did not like the feel. I use Engage and I find it drives well and has the same feel as my ICE rig which I also drive at times during the winter. But as previously mentioned it really comes down to what feels best and safest to you.

Just drove home in a snowstorm, I use 1-pedal drive and Whisper. I don't think I even touched the brake pedal the whole drive. Excellent control.

I guess I need to stop complaining when it tips past 50 into the high 40's!!! Yikes, look at all that "white stuff".......

Agreed, I think that Whisper in L may be what you want. You would have to re-engage the L mode every time you start the car. Just a clarification, these settings are all software, and have zero effect on efficiency or max performance. Whisper in L will give you some off-throttle deceleration, similar to Engage with 1PD off. But you'll also get the linear throttle mapping that comes with Whisper. The other modes have more throttle tip-in, which makes the car feel faster from a stop (it's not, full throttle is the same in all modes but partial throttle is a lot different), but may cause loss of traction in slippery conditions.

If your car is like most of ours, eventually it will switch to Engage on it's own. With the weight of the car, it really does drive pretty well in snow in any mode. I eventually gave up the fight to keep mine in Whisper and use Engage most of the time now.
