Reading through the owners manual I was a bit surprised to see that Ford suggests setting your preferred charge time 2-3 hours after your typical plug in time to give the battery time to cool. I hadn’t seen this discussed on this forum and couldn’t find an existing thread on the topic. Are most people doing this?

never once bothered to do so. I'm at 12k mile and my battery SoH is at 99.5%

Pretty sure it's not really an issue.

That’s what I was thinking. Seems a bit excessive, but interesting that Ford thought it was material enough to suggest in the manual.

Yes, they want you to plug in right away but delay charging so the battery cooling can start if necessary. If the battery is really hot it will be chilled immediately. If the battery is kinda hot (maybe 95ºF), then the 2-3 hour delay will give it time to cool down before charging begins. You really only have to worry about the cooling down during the hot summer when the temp is above about 90ºF.

The battery is happiest when kept between 32ºF and 95ºF. It needs to be in that range while charging.

I plug in at 4pm but schedule my charging to begin at 8pm, off peak. Unintentionally going by the recommendation. I also charge to 90%.

Interesting, so NOT 80% daily charging? Which makes me feel good since I have been charging daily to 85%.

Never has been for level 2. People seem to get confused by this because Ford does recommend only charging to 80% for DCFC, but that's really because it slows down after that and could end up costing a lot more money if you're being charged per minute.
