Coming home from Pheonix on 10 I tried to get the m/kw up to 3 so I started drafting behind trucks, Girlfriend asleep in passenger seat so I have blue cruise set minimum distant, was drinking coffee eating cookie, love blue cruise for that, Girlfriend wakes up in total panic and ask what I think I am doing, I told her it's like in the movie Talladega nights, "we are preparing for a sling shot honey"

No more blue cruise with coffee and cookies
That would scare me too if I had just woken up....

Apparently Charge Assist means no battery preconditioning.
Where do I find charge assist, is it a separate app. I don’t see it in my car

Should be on the “Home” page on the large display. It came with an OTA. Forget which one.
I am on 6.3 and still don’t have it, my car is slow and steady, I guess like the tortoise, I will get there eventually and hopefully without breaking something else.

thanks

Looks like it may have come out around October via an un-numbered OTA?

I got 6.3 a couple of days ago and I am way behind most people, I think.

I believe it is not connected to an OTA update, it just appears on the Sync Home screen. Try a reboot.

Given that we've proven it doesn't precondition the battery when using it to find and then navigate to a charger, and given that it reports inaccurate status of chargers, and given that it's slow as hell, I can't imagine using it much anymore.

Can't agree more. Having to drive under 70mph (on a highway that is rated for 75mph) to keep it at 3mi/kwh, isn't great for long road trips. Got all sorts of cars passing me as I try to drive behind a semi to knock some of the wind resistance down.
Well, I'm sure you know this, but increasing the efficiency by which power from the battery leads to more miles is a bit more than shaking out bugs in the software. Similar to asking Ford to fix it so that your Shelby muscle car would get way better gas mileage at 80mph.

I am only updated to 6.3.0, sounds like 6.13.0 gives you the battery preconditioning, guess I will just have to wait

OP: Rick, the wife and I did an unplanned day trip to Fort Campbell base in Clarksville, TN this past Saturday in our 23 premium ER RWD MME. Once she decided she wanted to go, I plugged MME in and charged from 83 to 93% while we were getting ready. Temperatures outside were in the upper 30's and never got above 41F during the trip. Base was 191 miles from our house. We mostly took 2 lane backroads on the way to the base so our efficiency was really good at 3.5 mi/kwh on roads that were 55 mph. Once we left the base, we went to a Chargepoint 125kw charger in Clarksville near I-24. I selected the charger in Ford nav system and heaters immediately came on (I had turned heaters off prior to setting the route and was monitoring with Car Scanner app). Battery temperature started out at 48F and was at 80F when we arrived at the charger (19 miles from base). Once at the charger, I used Charge Assist app to activate the charger and car charged just fine. On the trip back, we took a different route (2/3 of trip was on I-40) and our efficiency was at 3.0 mi/kwh). Our 23 MME is updated through 6.13.0. Thought I would give you a data point where battery did get preconditioned while heading to a DCFC after recent round of updates. I've used Charge Assist app a lot since it was installed on the car and have had zero issues. I've never tried to use it to get a route setup for navigation though. I either setup a trip in FP app and send it to the car or I setup the route in Ford nav system.
Not to sure about the consumption numbers having any influence but I think the trick is turn the hvac (heat) off so the heater has enough power to heat the batteries. It does not have the power to do both.

This is what 6.13 gives us at least according to the internet

Driver Facing Camera SW Improvement (equipped vehicles only)
This update adds robustness to the Driver State Monitoring system and increases availability of BlueCruise and reduces false eyes-off warnings

Just what I needed was a more robustness of the driver monitoring awareness, sounds to me like Ford was talking to my girlfriend.
Now I know I will never be able to drink coffee and eat cookies while blue cruising

Hi Shayne. I mentioned the efficiency numbers solely as a couple of data points. You are correct in that they have no influence over the heating of the battery; I did mention that I had turned off the heaters for cabin use prior to setting the nav route to the charger. And then mentioned that I verified they came back on and battery temperature rose as expected for preconditioning.
