The OEM EVSE is a piece of crap. I am really surprised there are people who use it frequently and it still works.
I got my car in November, and the EVSE worked fine until the weather started getting warmer in the following Spring. I only used it briefly at home until I got a 48 Amp Emporia, and then I was using it as a travel charger.
At my mom's house I could not get it to charge at a reasonable speed (blinking yellow light) until I put it on an extension cord and inside where it was cool. I have seen posts about people putting fans on it to keep it cool. I even had mine overheat on 120V, which really surprised me. It is a piece of crap. So I got a Grizzl-e to use as a 240V travel charger. It works great. I still have the OEM EVSE for 120V use, but that is a rare occurrence.
