Does anyone have any recommendations on how to light up the pony pre-installation? I just want to check which version i got. Thanks!

You should be able to use a 12v power supply and attach the white and red wires to the positive, black to negative.

I did that as a test and it lit up.

Something like this?

12V 2A Power Supply Adapter, SANSUN 120VAC to 12VDC Transformer with 5.5x2.1mm DC Output Jack, 12 Volt 2 Amp Power Supply for LED Module LED Strip Light (1pcs) https://a.co/d/hC9HAtj

I would think that would work. I can’t imagine this draws more than 2 amps.

Just use a 12v battery and hold the black to the negative and the red and white to the positive terminal. Ask a friend with an exposed battery if you dont have one.

It takes a few seconds to light up so don't give up too soon.

I just tested mine with an almost identical power supply to that that I had lying around and it lit up just fine. Seems as though I got the OG one and not the better diffused/warmer one selected in the survey.

@VN210 posted a link to knockoff front and rear lighted ponies here. Interesting that they copied the install notes directly from John's kickstarter info, even the parts that don't apply. Looks like these ones might be plug and play without splicing wires.

I'm thinking the Asian market Mach-Es may support plug and play. Not sure what is there to plug and play on the USDM and EUDM Mach-Es.

You're probably right. In theory, it could use a pass-though plug that goes inline with one of the headlights. But the plug in the picture looks too small for that.

I wish it were that easy. That's been one of the challenges with this pony kit created by John. Most newer models/trims lost the turn-on wire from the headlight connector bundle, which requires a run directly to the BCM.

As cheap as harnesses can be for mass production, I'm surprised Ford didn't use a single harness for these vehicles, and simply left the lighted pony connector capped and dormant.

Is the ground wire an issue?
I bought a little 12v Enegizer battery and I was able to get it to light up. Took a little patience but it was easy enough.
