I wasn't implying that the tow company isn't liable, the question is who needs to get the money from them, the car owner or the Ford dealer who contracted them? Sounds like many are saying it's the car owner. Going back to the example provided above, if you bring your car to the dealer for the glass recall, and they contract out to a glass specialist who damages the car, are you saying the car owner has to go after the glass company? This seems analogous.

The answer to your question is: the car owner.

It’s between the car owner and the tow truck company. It’s very cut and dry, that’s why Ford already gave the OP that answer.

In your glass recall example, that’s like subcontractor work. The dealership (not Ford corporate) would likely make it right.

Again, the tow truck company isn’t a subcontractor, they’re a vendor. A very distinct difference.

While I get where you're coming from, my concern is from a legal standpoint of, I didn't call the towing company. Ford is providing a service via contract to offer roadside assistance to Ford Customers at little to no expense to us. In this instance and in many instances, Ford found it to be viable to offer this roadside assistance and therefore should make sure that any agent (towing company) of theirs should be able to actually service the vehicle as not to damage it. If Ford has a contract with towing, it should be in Fords best interest to not damage one of its prize new and arguably most expensive to repair vehicles.

However, I'm getting a similar response to what you said where Ford says we didn't do it and you have to go after the tow company. It just doesn't seem right to me considering all the other factors.
Maybe they'll get it if we start a Twitter shitstorm and get someone on YouTube or the press to cover how well Ford is focusing on their early adopter customers? Sure they can say it's not their liability, but they are also going to lose customers by treating people this way.

This is all caused by how poorly engineered the towing points are on the car. And their lack of experience focus.

My point is that this is not a legal argument but a customer experience and company culture issue for Ford.

Except that it’s a cut and dry legal liability argument.

It’s no different than you taking your Ford to a car wash and it getting damaged by the car wash.

It has nothing to do with Ford.

You could try to argue they should make cars more durable to withstand whatever damage, but that’s a reach.

You should go back to whoever did the damage. They are responsible.

I hate how people want to blame everyone in the vicinity when the guilty party is obvious.

Car got damage by tow truck company. Tow truck company is at fault. No one else.
