Sounds like a communication issue. I’d try a sync reboot, followed by a hard phone reboot if the sync reboot didn’t resolve it, but then maybe plug the phone into the front USB port.

Make sure it's not paired with someone else's phone, like your wife's.

It seems that rebooting sync is often suggested as a fix for many oddities, I see it all the time. Today it finally reminded me of a joke (you're probably all familiar with it). It goes:

Four engineers get into a car. The car won't start.
The mechanical engineer says: “It’s a broken starter”
The electrical engineer says: “Dead battery”
The chemical engineer says: “Impurities in the gasoline”
The IT engineer says: “Hey guys, I have an idea, how about we all get out of the car and get back in”

Rebooting synch clears many transient issues. Ditto with the phone.

In addition, it works on airliners. I was trying to load basic data into a B-777 computer one evening for a westbound trans-Pacific flight while sitting at the gate. It kept insisting it was a different variant of the 777. Mx quite literally rebooted the aircraft. Shut it down cold and did the equivalent of removing and reinstalling the CMOS battery. When it came back to life, all was well. Of course the delay was the flight crew’s fault, because of course it was.

The things you don’t know about airlines. :p

Yes, I recently started seeing this. Around the same time Paak stopped working.

It started very recently with mine, but I see it on two vehicles. Ford and JLR. I wonder if it's Android Auto. I'll reboot my phone to see if it goes away.

I can see why loading the wrong plane subtype on your FMC can lead to a very dangerous situation.

I use ForeFlight for navigation planning and have to double check the plane I am flying because I alternate between a Piper PA28 and Diamond DA40NG.

Mixing up these planes will result in a huge fuel consumption difference causing a potential unneeded / unwanted diversion....

It was a really odd situation. I had to load something really basic into the main page. It would not take it. Everything on the page said it was for the proper version. So on a whim I loaded the -200 info, and lo and behold it took it. So that’s when maintenance was called because it should not have taken the -200 stuff and we weren’t in a -200 anyway.

No matter how poorly we think of Ford’s software at times, I’ve yet to see the sync system think it was a Lightning. Way to go Boeing.
