Mach-E Architecture, chassis, platform

In looking at the "real" photos revealed today, I see a strong resemblance in ride height, cowl height, greenhouse shape, and basic "look" to match the new Escape. Is the M-E based on the same chassis or modified as the Escape?

If the internet is to be believed, the original plan was for it to be an all electric replacement for the c-max and while a unique electric platform it would have been bundled under some of the c2 development.

It was only later when fields was ousted was the idea to make it mustang inspired, which explains to me why the proportions look odd as the reskin would have had to work around any existing hard points.

Then again ford web designers always seem to be the masters of choosing the worst possible angles when they pick the photos so I am hopping that some of the awkwardness will go away when you actually see it in the flesh.

I can understand ford wanting to make it look a little more exciting compared to what ever the c-max style version looked like, not sure taking the exisiting mustang cues was the best option as IMO ford had already produced one the best looking concepts years ago that would have been perfect to adapt in the ford evos concept.

This is so true I never pass judgment on a cars looks until I see it in person.

It will alienate some people for sure but from what I've been experiencing from friends and other sources is it will attract more buyers than most think.

I've been in contact with my own dealership and I asked them to reach out to me once they get a Mach-E in their inventory. I really want to sit in it and see if I'm going to like it.

Oh I VERY much want to love it. I just hope I'm not disappointed when I finally see it in person.

The MME is built on a bespoke EV chassis, meaning it's a skateboard design. It might share certain elements of Ford's global C toolkit, but the chassis is bespoke and not something from any other Ford product. If you consider the different battery/range options being offered, it's obvious on that evidence alone that this chassis has battery carrying capability that a non purpose built EV would not.
