Hi Everyone,

My Mach-E GT is having charge fault issues. I have owned the car since early June 2022 and I have not had any issues up until now. What I am dealing with is my car will charge at the dealer and a convention center level 2 charger(EV Connect). However, at home my car will not charge with either of my two hardwired Wallbox Pulsar Plus chargers. My Parents' Mach-E charges fine on both of my Wallbox chargers.

The issue started Sunday morning with "Charge Fault", "Parasitic Battery Drain", and "Service Soon". I ignored these warnings after finding from a quick google search that the messages are most likely a software bug since my car charged to the set 90%. Later in the day I charged up at the convention center without any issues and then also plugged-in when I got home with 76% charge left. Monday morning I discovered my car did not charge and was still at 76%. Since owning my car I have always charged using my Wallbox at home and only used Electrify America for one road trip that I took when I first took delivery of the car. The only change to my daily charging routine was this past Friday, Saturday, and Sunday I used the convention center's level 2 chargers and I added the location to Fordpass so I could set the preferred charge limit to 90%.

The car is currently at the dealer getting modules reset and updated with the hopes of resolving the issue. I'm not sure which modules are being updated but the dealer's computer lists a handful of modules that are still running on older firmware. The outdated modules surprises me because the car says it's running powerup 4.1.3

Does anyone know what may have caused my issue?

I would have suggested clearing your home charging location and the setting it back up to see if it worked. With the updates the dealer is doing you may have to do that anyway when you get it home. If your car is charging on other level 2 chargers you would think it would be fine at home.

You have a bunch of SOBDM (charger) codes that started on March 3rd in the morning, including control pilot erratic / wrong frequency and charging coupler overtemp. However you also have a U3000 code in the SOBDM, which means that there is an internal software/hardware fault. The SSM below specifies replacement the of SOBDM charger module when that code occurs:

https://www.macheforum.com/site/thr...icle-will-not-charge-u3000-49-in-sobdm.22747/

So it appears your on-board charger died due to an internal component failure. It's possible the EV Connect station you used at the convention center on Friday fried your charger, perhaps due to a power surge or bad power quality. I would leave a bad review on PlugShare.

They will likely need to replace your charger next.

That's what I was thinking as well. I tried deleting the convention center's location but Fordpass was being stubborn.

Interesting! The EV Connect chargers at the convention center are relatively new as well. I should have let the car charge longer than a few seconds at the dealership before pulling into the service garage. I basically unplugged a few seconds after getting a blue charge light.

Do you know what time the codes started on March 3rd? I ask because although my car was done charging before I left the house my car did precondition for a 9:30am departure.

8:35AM on the 3rd, which was probably when it woke up to start heating the battery for a 9:30 departure time.

Hmmm... something strange is going on then because preconditioning has been a hit or miss. Around 8am on March 3rd I deleted the old preconditioning schedule and created a new one because my car hasn't been preconditioning if the schedule altered the same day. Deleting the old schedule solved the issue and I was happy to see my car precondition properly. I guess there was more going on in the background.

On another note my Mom's car is now charging on her usual charger but her car's gps is oddly stuck at a different location so it charged to 100% instead of the set 90%. Strange things happening all around.

I have a hard time believing that editing the departure time schedule could cause a "Watchdog/Safety microcontroller failure" and 8 other critical codes being set simultaneously. That would be a pretty extreme software meltdown if it kills the watchdog, but who knows. It possible the fault occurred the previous day and wasn't reported until you started your car to change the schedule. It occurred sometime between 7:12 PM on the 1st and 8:35 AM on the 3rd.

It's possible the dealer might be able to reprogram the software, but I've run into some major issues programming the SOBDM before with FDRS, so replacement might be the only way.

Update: The car is charging at the dealer. Not sure what's going on. Maybe just a glitch in the matrix. Though it's charging slowly, 3kWh after 50min. My home charger is rated at 11kW.

Have you rebooted your Wallbox units? I got my GTPE around May 2022 and had a couple of charger errors from the Wallbox Plus. I made sure the latest firmware was installed and rebooted and charger worked fine ever since.

Yes I rebooted and updated the Wallbox unit I use. Unfortunately it didn't help. I left the one my mother uses alone just in case.
