I am so glad I got the extended warranty, and I am expecting the car to be worth nothing by that point.

I thought these HVBJB issues have been resolved for '23 MME ?
This doesn't look like a HVBJB, look at their photo, the powertrain fault wrench is missing and the behavior they are describing is different. The dealer also at this point would be well aware and prepared to replace it. The car wouldn't return to as if nothing had happened after a key cycle if the contactors were welded.

I'm actually wondering if whatever the issue is, is something causing a false positive in the software, but you should still have a code in that case.

The first picture is from one of my attempts to restart from the incident 10 days ago; the initial stop all icons lit up-- turtle, wrench, battery.... I didn't have the presence of mind get a picture of it. Second pic is the errors I got on the May incident. Agreed that something is triggering false positives -- both times the car restarted normally before the tow arrived.

Sorry you’re having to deal with this.

I don’t know what the right solution here would be. Recall all vehicles? Ford won’t do that. And honestly even if they do, what would be the solution to apply? Replace the whole box for each car?

Or at least issue a bulletin that if any of these errors are shown, the box should be replaced no questions asked? Not doing that either. Shame on Ford, really. And I don’t blame future EV buyers to skip this brand. Resale value is close to $0, even in 2023, UI/UX is below average, reliability is statistically fine but there’s still a sword hanging above all Mach E owners and even if it falls, we cannot rely on Ford to catch it.

It’s really not a good look for any of these EVs to be honest, let alone for Ford. Hyundai and Kia’s competing EV are also susceptible to similar issues related to thermals / control units.

What’s really interesting is that for the last ten years that Tesla was slowly ramping up their EV empire, we kept hearing, “just wait until the real car manufacturers get in the game, they already have decades of car building experience and they’re gonna drive Tesla out of the market just like that!”. And yet, here we are. They are failing to build that one category of components that’s different from the gas cars - battery management systems. And that’s the most critical component in EVs. And it’s been close to 5 years now that traditional car makers are trying their hands at it.

And all this, while Tesla continues to sell half a million electric cars each quarter and with the best supercharging network already built. We have to give credit where it’s due. Is Tesla a great “car”? Not in my book. It lacks many luxury (and non luxury) car features. But it was the absolute best EV I have ever owned to date, when it comes to reliability and accessibility and resale value.

And what’s even more concerning is that given where Tesla is currently playing, most traditional car manufacturers seem to still rest on their laurels instead of working harder to get there. And some are simply starting to give up and turn to the gas / HEV / PHEV. Today, there’s still one clear winner. And I don’t foresee that title changing hands for at least another decade even if Tesla continues to coast.

When I read posts like this, I fail to understand why buyers should give a chance to non-Tesla EV. Build quality in Tesla now is night and day compared to what it used to be. Charging network is far superior. Service centers are at least trained and won’t turn you away because they “don’t like servicing EV”. Far more reliable battery management, equivalent range compared to other EV (even if they claim that they’re ahead of others - they’re at least not behind). And software light years ahead. So, what, it comes down to a few features like RCTA and CarPlay? And what happens when Tesla adds those features?

What you’re going through is each non-Tesla owner’s nightmare. Not just Ford. If there’s anything we can do as a community to help, please let us know. At the least, we wish you nothing but good luck with this. Keep us posted.

Yeah my state requires 45 days in the shop for lemon law claims and I just hit that threshold a week ago. Haven’t filed a claim yet because I’m out of town traveling for work, but I’ve researched local lemon law attorneys and have a folder of relevant documentation on my computer ready to go.

I also think I made a mistake choosing my dealership. After the first “repair” I tried to take it to a different dealership and was turned away. I was told the original dealership had priority rights to fix their mistake. I don’t know if that’s true or not, but at the time I said “ok” and went back to the original dealership, where they put me back at the bottom of the repair queue.

However, things finally appear to be moving along. fingers crossed.
It took Ford and attorneys a total of 2 years to buyback my Focus. Meanwhile it sat 100% dissasembled in thier lot. I had no car.

Just had this happen to me! I called the 800 number and the rep seemed to have no idea what I was talking about. I called four or five dealerships and again no idea what I was talking about. Most dealerships are booking a month or so out so now I am stuck with risk driving the car or let it sit until I can get an appointment. Model is California Rt 1 2021.

Unfortunately, I’m now here today with a 2023 GTPE, and similarly, the dealer’s service center never answers.

I hesitate to just tow it and drop it off, as this is my only car & the dealer never has loaners.

I will try to be optimistic, but this problematic with only 6,057 miles on the car.

Add this one when I moved the car from the garage to the street to get towed. Trifecta! Yahtzee!

I called roadside assistance each time to get it towed to a dealership. I strongly doubt they have no idea what you're talking about. If you Google just Ford stop safely now you'll see it's happening across different models, even hybrids.

If you call the BEV team, they're supposed to get the local dealership service dept to authorize a rental through e.g., Enterprise, if there are no loaners available. In my case Ford authorized the expense but the local dealership refused to follow through because Ford corporate had accumulated un-reimbursed expenses and I got caught in the middle. But try the BEV team (800) 392-3673? Good luck ?

When my BEV guy ghosted me he came back with "I got a new laptop sorry." LOL. He got me a $40 debit card for gas.
Irony. It reminds me of PG&E sending an email with apologies for blackouts offering a rebate on purchase of a generator. Perhaps Ford should provide a coupon for free Uber rides at the time of sale. ?

I agree it reminds a software bug. I remember having all sorts of messages popping up on start which would disappear after turning off/on cycles. That was fixed in software updates.
