I'm shopping tires, Tire guy says I need 103 Load Index tires due to the weight of the car, true? Trying to replace worn tires with the least expensive tires that make sense? Any other options besides Michelin and Continental?
thanks

Tire guy is right about load index. There are a lot of tires that fit the bill. There's Hankook's EV tire, Goodyear has a new EV tire. Check out the listings on Tire Rack or just go to @Discount Tire and look at their listings.

I just put these Goodyear Electric Drive 2 tires on my 2021 MME permium and they are great. I like the way they hold the road better than the Michelin tires that came with the car. Four new tires on a MME are going to cost you some money no matter which brand you select. I am glad I got these. They include foam which makes for a quieter ride. Goodyear is offering a $100 rebate on these right now which made the decision a little easier. Check them out.

What about snow tires? Coming up for my first winter with my MME, so I'm looking for recommendations!

I typically have put Blizzak WS series on my cars in the past but couldn't find a good size for the Mach-E. I'm sure the LM series Blizzaks are fine, but I went with Vredestein Wintrac Pro this year. Can't speak to how they perform yet, but they're well rated and I've seen a couple other recommendations for them (they also have a $120 mail-in rebate on Tire Rack right now).

Thanks - I've had Blizzaks on my previous car, and would happily use them again. Got a quote from a local tire dealer who suggests that if I'm buying rims as well, I should go down to an 18", and he's given me what I think is an excellent quote for four Blizzak DM-V2 for $1200 Canadian. The size would be 225/60R18. But is that good advice? He clearly didn't know anything about EVs, and had never heard of a Mach-e before, so I guess he's just going on the spec he looked up...

I think the DM series is the SUV/light truck one (vs the LM I mentioned before being more for "passenger cars" maybe). I'm sure they'd be fine. I'd consider them a slightly more aggressive winter tire than something like the Vredestein. And being in Canada, you might want that if you get a lot of deep snow.

Tire Rack has those tires/that size for just a hair under $700 US right now. On a straight currency conversion that's a little under $1000 CAD - but then you have to add the mount/balance cost too, so they're not terribly far off if that quote is just for tires.

The DM-V2 in 225/60R18 has a load rating of 100 SL, which is not sufficient for the Mach-E. Should be a minimum of 103 XL. For my winter setup I went with:

Continental - VikingContact 7 - 225/60R18 XL 104T BSW
ART - ELEMENT - Black - Gloss Black - 18" x 8", 45 Offset, 5x108 (Bolt Pattern), 63.4mm HUB

from pmctire.com. Currently waiting on delivery.

Well I'm very glad I asked. I didn't know about load ratings, so thanks for this! Gonna find a tire dealer that understands how heavy EVs are now.

The smaller diameter wheel is not bad advice in general for a vehicle that is going to see snow. Less space to gather that heavy snow in. Less chance of fouling your brakes with snow. ??
