Thanks everyone for the feedback; after more googling, I think it is going to come down to price; as much fun as it would be to have an MME, its silly to pay premium price for my home driver. Instead I will keep an eye out for EV marks we don't have in the US.

I am in a bit of a more flexible situation that many - will be staying with family and not really have a fixed schedule for the visit. I also have many many years on right had drive in far worse roads than the UK; but I am sticking to rail for getting into London - no way would I accept that risk!

For a future trip, I thought about renting an EV (US trip). I found that the price for an EV is so much higher than an ICE vehicle as to make it ridiculous to consider.

And the Dartford toll charge (don’t forget to pay online same day or that’s £140 fine), and the emissions charge if you rent a big mother of a gas guzzler, then watch the bloody speed limits, 20mph all over nearly but not quite and it’s tricky keeping up with change in speed limits - in 200 yards there can be 4 speed limit changes!

There are cycle lanes all I’ve crossing live lanes of traffic in places they never used to be putting cyclist at risk to left turners.

Driving became a nightmare in the end, glad I’m no longer doing 30kpa!
