Mach E Truncates Lists in CarPlay

If you're using an app that has a long list, for instance a list of music playlists, the Mach E will truncate that list at 12 when the car hits 5 mph. When you slow down, the full list appears. This is not how CarPlay works on all vehicles; it's the Mach E telling CarPlay to truncate the list.

This is pretty frustrating, and could force a user to pick up their phone to select something that falls outside of these first 12 items.

It has been that way in the several carplay-equipped cars I've used in the past few years. Which car does it better?

It is certainly annoying, and perhaps that annoyance is less safe than a bit of distraction. FWIW, if you know what you want, you can tell Siri to play it.

it's a safety feature of CarPlay same with all cars, there's nothing Ford has to do with it. I believe if you are stopped (maybe in park) you have access to the full list, but Apple is trying to get you to use hands-free Siri instead of using the screen while driving.

My kid figured this out:
When it truncates the list, scroll to the last, start playing it, then go back to your list, you have 12 more songs!
You know how many times I've had to listen to "Peaches" *bottom song on the playlist. (Not Presidents of the USA Peaches, which is pretty good. Jack Black Mario Bros movie Peaches...)

Yep, this is the correct answer. Nothing to do with the Mach-E. Just Apple trying to keep people from being distracted while driving. It can be a little overzealous sometimes, but I think it's the right idea.

Yep, this is the correct answer. Nothing to do with the Mach-E.

According to Apple they leave this up to the car manufacturer. So it’s Ford, and some other manufacturers, truncating the list.

Yeah it depends on the screen size, not many vehicles have a huge center screen like MME.

You just need to be at a full stop. I often use thst method of scrolling before I pull out if our driveway. It is annoying but a decent safety feature imo.

Full stop works as well as the click last song to play, then go back to the list.

Put your 12 favourite songs at the top of the list? Yes, I have playlists with 300+ songs, and sometimes I want to hear something specific. Ask Siri. Or Alexa.

I agree. CarPlay Music has been so neutered that I usually search on the phone or just listen to silence.

2 more 350+ mile days coming up Thurs & Fri now rear wheel bearings have been changed curing that creaking/clicking noise on take of drive & start of overrun, and a load of sw updates inc that whining motor update, can’t wait?
