To be honest, I know why Ford hasn't moved it away from Sync. If you want better nav, or other apps, then you use Apple Carplay or Android Auto. I got mine in early May, and I have no need to enable the connectivity package in any way. Google Maps/Waze is far better than the built in nav, including showing me where chargers are and what type they are, I have unlimited 5G tethering for my kid who likes watching videos on an iPad when we travel on my Galaxy Note Ultra, I have streaming Sirius on it (so didn't even enable that in the car), and have my own music on my phone to stream from. I can stream YouTube from it if I wanted, and have no need for karaoke. Why would they spend all that time and research into another system that most people won't use because what's on their phones that connects to it is far better? Sync is perfectly fine for the settings in the car, and why fix it if it isn't broken.
As many detractors as there are out there that complain that the Mach E "isn't a Mustang", this is Ford's performance EV. It's ranked as one of the top SUV EVs on the market right now. While I see the need for the cheaper and faster to charge vehicles, they would be silly to get rid of the Mach E (at least the upper trims), as the performance is what most of us like in it, and there will always be those willing to buy performance over only effeciency, even if effeciency is a consideration overall. I get why the killed the current version of the Lightning, but the Mach E is in a different place.
That said, I drive very little anymore. The Tremor I traded in for my Mach E had 7k miles on it after a year and a half, and when I sold the 17 Camaro right after, I had only put 6k miles on it in 3.5 years. Even with battery degredation, I should still be able to drive this in 18 years when I retire. Should only have around 102k miles on it by then. Whether they discontinue it at this point or not wouldn't really affect me at all at that point. If I need something new in 10 years, maybe it will be around still, maybe not, but that won't make me enjoy owning it any less.
