Dang, really was hoping for a second gen Mach-E.

Not transitioning to a new platform is not the same as abandoning the current paid-for-platform.

Is universal platform only way to (not) go? In Europe Ford is selling different electric vehicles for some time now.

Yes, but the point being made is that UEV is not the be-all-end-all of BEV platforms, nor is it even the only platform Ford uses. UEV is the platform Ford USA is using for new vehicle models, currently limited to the upcoming truck. The UEV platform also incorporates serious production changes such as Unicasting, which may not be feasible for non UEV vehicles already in production.

Totally agree. And, the GE1/C2 platforms should not be viewed as archaic or obsolete.
The Mustang Mach-E may be 'older' but it is aging with poise and grace, much like the Mercedes W123 series , which was a strong seller throughout its 9 year production.

I had a Ford Courier after the Pinto. 400 more cc’s! I figured out that I was probably going to be moving a lot and that a truck would come in handy. As I recall, the Courier was a rebadged Mazda Series B truck. That truck had a long life, i sold it a friend’s brother, he ended up owning a body shop in Nevada and it became his kid’s first car.

Courier? I didn't think that name was ever used in the US? I thought the little truck was always the Ranger (and that was what was rebadged to Mazda back in the day)?

Definately a Courier in the '70s, back when Mazdz had a Rotory Truck on the same platform!
The Ranger name replaced it in '83...

My best friend's family owned a Mazda dealership where we worked in the summers. We really new all things Mazda, and we both owned Mustangs, so we knew all things Ford as well!

After reading this thread, it is apparent @Ford Motor Company needs to come out with an UEV and/or EV roadmaps. It would take some of the guessing many Mach-e owners are grappling with now.

While I doubt Ford would for just the Mach-e, it would be nice though I think the Mach-e will end like the Lightning did. One day Ford will announce a new fun trim and the next announce they are ending production.

I suspect a roadmap for the UEV will be better received by stockholders. A two row SUV to replace the Escape/Corsair, 3 row SUV, etc. Farley has hinted at a performance sedan on a few occasions as it meets his fun vehicle concept so why not a new Mach-e generation, too? It would fit the performance CUV segment, eh?

Mussing aside, I do hope Ford does announce follow up models once it gets the production UEV truck finalized early next year. Meanwhile, I will continue to troll Farley about an Adventure EV line like Subaru (yes, I know they are Toyotas with Subaru additions).

The Ranger was a Ford version of the little Mazda truck. The Ranger replaced the Courier in 1983. Ford designed that version itself rather than continue rebadging Mazdas.
