The modem in his car is talking to the cloud just fine. I'm able to pull all connected data and his Fordpass app works. Still working with him behind the scenes to figure out why auto-updates is grayed out.You need to understand that your 30GB Vodafone plan is NOT the same as communications to Ford OTA servers.
You have 3 different comm systems:
1. Cellular data plan (optional) monthly for mobile hotspot for use with YouTube app, device connections, etc. Has nothing to do with Ford's OTA updates.
EX:Vodafone, Orange, GSM, 4G, 5G, LTE, etc...
2. WiFi (standard) that communicates between vehicle and available WiFi.
EX: 802.11n, ac, g, 2.4Ghz, 5Ghz, WiFi 5, 6 or 7......
3. Cellular OTA direct to Ford servers / data feedback (standard, secured modem) that is used for OTA updates and data feedback to Ford.
EX: AT&T cellular direct to Ford.
