Don't know if many of you watched JerryRigEverything compare his Lightning to a F-150, on a cost to own basis. But it got me thinking about what vehicle we Mach-e drivers would compare against.

I would assume both a style and size similarity along with the technical features of our cars have some good comparables. Different parts of the world probably have different answers of 'the best comparable', but I'm in North America.

I'm sort of leaning on a RAV4 as my answer, but I'd like to hear your answer.

Rav4? Not even close, small, slow, ugly, basically a large prius, and lacking luxury.

I would say more of a 5 series wagon, or an A6 wagon. Thats generally what I tell folks.

My Chevy Bolt Premier is much more in line with a Rav4

i was indeed choosing between this and a rav4... though i don't think they are quite that similar

maybe others i'd toss into your list for consideration are the mazda cx5 and vw tiguan

note: i previously wrote cx30 by mistake

I would not be caught dead in a fucking rav4. Yikes. Need a shower to wash these thoughts off. Will type my response while I dry my hair.

I drive an AWD select and find Rav4 Cx30, Tiguan all insulting. A FWD equinox, yeah that is more inline with those.

You drive a GT? Who has ever crossed shopped a GT with a Tiguan, cx30 or Rav4? I agree, laughable! I would say a GT is much more inline with an M5 wagon or Audi S6 wagon, if they even still make those.

You can make a personal comparison to anything that interests you, but from a market perspective, I think the MME would be compared to mid-size ICE SUV's, like Explorer, Pilot, Traverse, etc..

I don't drive a GT. Just a Select AWD.

I appreciate the humor I invoked but I'm not seeing too many common suggestions. An Audi A5 or A6, or an Equinox? Really?

Somewhat like GreaseMonkey, but I wouldn't drive an Equinox ICE.

CX30... Interesting. I don't know much about the Mazda line up apparently.

So the issue with electric is that a standard brand is as costly as a premium ice one, but our cars perform so much better than a run of the mill premium SUV.

We have multiple Macans, SQ5s, X3s in the garage (neighbors own them) and they are exactly the same dimensions as my GT but nowhere near the performance. You’d need a Macan GTS to even come close, and that’s a $100k car.

So on what basis are we comparing? It was easier when I had the ‘22 Premium, because that was equivalent to Macan S or SQ5.

the mach e is a compact / cross-over SUV which is why all of my examples were similar class.

to your point, ultimately it depends WHY you are comparing. for me, i was cross shopping my comps for space, clearance, fuel economy, features, price. i have a select, which also gets to someone's point about GT vs higher end brands

I agree with you, just offering other similar vehicles the market might consider, even tho most mid-size SUV's have 3 rows of seats now. We came out of a Honda Pilot to the MME, and they are very comparable in many ways, from a utility standpoint.

For my GT, I would compare it to a BMW X4 M
