Now that MY 23.5 has been release, let's speculate about what we would want to see in MY 24 models.

Here is my wishlist:
  1. Better and more responsive software - hopefully if these cars move to Android from Sync they would perform better.ea
  2. A return of features taken away from previous model years. The chip shortage is over so we can hopefully get park assist and hands free liftgate back
  3. Ventilated seats
  4. A sentry mode
  5. Higher resolution backup cameras
  6. Faster charging - faster charging curve

We should find this info out in August

I feel like if Ford doesn't do anything substantial in the next model year - they will no longer be competitive. Tesla is having a huge refresh for the model 3 and Y and with their reduced pricing they outperform the MachE in every way.

If anything, I'd predict a more "decontented" model that could compete at a lower price point. Cheaper lights, cheaper interior, maybe smaller display.

I'd love to see some improvements to performance or charging, but not holding my breath.

This is a losing strategy imo. However knowing Ford - this is probably what they are going to do.

I don’t think there will be a new model until MY26. I expect a new shade of grey, maybe a gray pony package to go with the white and midnight packages, and an increase in BlueCruise subscription pricing. I expect NO significant new functionality (ventilated seats, better performance, etc). All “new” features will be on the new model.

Android ? my Samsung disconnects every few seconds, with no resolution in sight.

Rest yes I agree!

Also BC 1.0 just takes turns at posted speed, sometimes it does not read road sign. So terrain sensitive speed adjustments++. Sometimes it phantom brakes. Would love to get that addresses.

Is that really what electric Mustang customers are looking for? More "cheapness"?
Isn't it what they've done already?

1. LFP batteries
2. No double-pane glass
3. Removing some Select options

I'm not saying I agree with it, just looking at what Ford has done in the past. Plus, why would they invest in developing new options if we're 2 years away from a refresh?

It doesn't seem like 2024 is shaping up to be a refresh year for the Mach-E, at least from the lack of leaks I've read about at this point, though I think some minor changes could be coming.

Tesla plays up their changes, they are excellent at marketing, they have never had a 'huge refresh' for any model.

The Model S and X could be said to have had one solid refresh, no brand new launch, despite the S being a decade old now and the X only a few years younger.

Neither the 3 nor Y have had a refresh either. The Y isn't that old, but for the 3 it is definitely due.

That's fair - but the Teslas are already so much more advanced than the MachEs. Ford is catching up.

It's unusual, in some ways, they definitely are ahead, in other ways, they are pretty backward. Like with the powertrain. On the one hand, Teslas can charge so much faster than the Mach-E, but when it comes to braking, Tesla still doesn't have blended braking even though most other EV manufactures (including Ford) have it.

I think we'll see minor changes, if any, to the basic mechanical functionality and capabilities to the Mustang Mach-E. We will likely see a bunch of software changes.

Ford thinks the 2-row crossover EV market is or will shortly be saturated, so I wouldn't be surprised to see an announcement of a coupe or something similar to complement the Mustang Mach-E.

They are probably planning a refresh for 2025, reading between the lines of Farley's statement in the Q1 Earnings call.

By 2025, we now expect there to be 45 EV models to be offered in the US in the small and medium utility segment. It will be a very saturated two-row EV market. Against this backdrop, to ensure profitable growth, we know we have to have a fresh, compelling offering with the right cost structure, something we continue to improve with the Mustang Mach-E.
Ford also predicts an improvement of the Mustang Mach-E's bill of materials costs of $5k/vehicle in the next year. We might see that shared with customers (haha).

The one thing to may be right about is new software. 2024 could be the first year or Android Automotive (Sync 5)

If they did upgrade to Android Automotive would it be something that could be added by a dealer or ota to the older models? Unsure what the ability of upgrading to a better system would be.

Probably not, I would think it would have different hardware. It may be possible to retrofit
