Actually 95% of the UK motorway network is covered (2,300 miles). I regularly commute from Liverpool to Wembley in London and 94% of the journey can be done hands free. Unfortunately I’m still waiting for the update to enable BlueCruise on my MY21 ?.

Watch this Ford video starting at 0:53. They clearly differentiate the two "Modes" of BlueCruise: Hands-Free Mode and

The other evidence would be that Ford clearly displays a “BlueCruise On” message when engaging LC/ACC nowhere near a hands-free “Blue Zone” and hands are still required. That would be the first clue.

What @Vulnox says may be “logical” but Ford’s branding… isn’t. So now we have Hands-On BlueCruise and Hands-Free BlueCruise. Maybe we were taking a page from Tesla.

Eh, we will just have to agree to disagree I guess. What that video is calling out is the eye tracking, which does yell at you even when not in hands-free mode if you aren't paying attention. It doesn't call anything at that moment bluecruise hands on. Context absolutely matters here.

As for the other evidence, I already covered that and have argued that on this site before. That is NOT evidence that BlueCruise is active when on hands-on mode, there is waaaayyyy more evidence to the contrary on that front and people get way too hung up on it for some reason.

My F-150 shows an A on top of the high beams marker at all times when my headlights are on, because auto high beams are on. That does not mean my high beams are active. For decades, cruise control could be turned on and would show some indicator of that, but until you set the speed, cruise control was not active. There is a significant difference between a system being on/ready, and active.

BlueCruise is "on" so long as you have a subscription and have advanced adaptive cruise enabled and lane centering enabled. But it isn't "active" until you are on a bluecruise road and other metrics are in line. That's why your screen turns blue, which it does not when lane centering is active but BC is not. Why everyone is so quick to overlook that part I don't understand. If BC was active at all times as claimed, the screen would stay blue at all times after that message.

Anyway, we can just leave it there. I can't prove a negative outside of my own experience when my trial BC sub lapsed. Until I see Ford specifically say hands-on is part of the subscription I don't believe it, and clearly the rest of you believe it to be the case despite them not saying it either. So we can't really break this tie until Ford does.

I would like to agree with you, but then we’d both be wrong. You can pretend that “BlueCruise [is] On” but “not active,” but that is just your supposition. The Ford message says nothing of the sort. I choose to rely on plain English, as do a lot of people on this board, which is why HOBC and HFBC have become common parlance here: it is necessary to clarify the confusion that Ford introduced when it rebranded BC. I cannot tell you how many threads have been started by new owners wondering why they can’t drive hands-free when they see the “BlueCruise On” message.

And the A above your headlamp indicator stands for “auto” not “active.” Because you’ve selected auto high beams. Again, plain English.

For me there is a big difference in Hands Free BC vs. Hands on BC. The Hands on BC comes free with the car and it's nice on the roads that are not mapped for hands free BC. But for me, it's the relaxation in my neck and shoulders that I enjoy so much when using hands free BC. I have to drive my son to college classes several days each week and it's a 1-1/2 round trip. Luckily we have hands free BC roads almost the entire way there and I enjoy it so much.

Blue Cruise has NEVER worked on my 2021 Premium AWD. Not for a single second. So, I can‘t Imagine paying even a dollar a month. I’m somehow comforted at the thought of all those Tesla owners who years ago spent thousands for FSD. I got screwed but at least didn’t pay thousands for the experience.
