Anyone running this new Sync version and have Android, have you noticed if this enabled expanded screen for Android Auto?
I have APIM Version 421 from Power-Up 2.8.3 and do not get the expanded screen on Android Auto.

:(
Thank you for checking.
Saw the Ioniq 5 just got full screen AA over a software update, they don’t have OTA yet but you can do it yourself over USB lol

I haven't seen a single person mention patting your head and rubbing your stomach at the same time for a successful update. This may be the reason for some many failures...

Seriously, if you read all these threads, you'd drive off a cliff. Total lack of consistent process to get results.

Yeah, it’s an odd choice to not let Sync4A do it
The crazy thing is that Sync4A can be updated via USB. That's what FDRS does to update it (the APIM module). It copies the files to a USB and then installs via USB. Just like the old Sync versions (from the original to Sync 4). It's just Ford isn't allowing us to download the Sync Update for 4a like previous versions.

They seem to really be trying to lock down people from running different versions of Sync. With sync2 and Sync3 you could update to any version you found the files for and that update worked on almost any car.

But for sync4, you have to have a certificate tied to your VIN that is generated by Ford for the update to even begin.

As we've seen with the BC updates, a lot of features are dependent on certain versions of sync and certain versions of other modules in order to function as expected. There are a ton of releases of Sync4 that are built, and not all the releases have all the features that are needed so its a bit more complicated and probably one of the reasons for it being locked down.

Okay, now things are starting to make much more sense! See the much more detailed procedures posted by @benk016 on how to start with the 12V battery issue (fully charge LVB, then reset LVB BMS), and specifically what to do and how to wait after each procedure here:
https://www.macheforum.com/site/thr...ecruise-programming.16088/page-74#post-412732

Items 1, 9, and 10 directly addressed my questions/concerns. Thank you Ford!

Another copy of the new pdf procedures for quick reference:

From a security prospective… that’s 100% the way to go to prevent counterfeit, jailbreaks, hardware conflicts, etc.

Ford is very conservative. Last thing they want is someone to jailbreak sync, be watching movies without their approval and crash and blame ford for it

… they should still allow us to update it, just securely :)

ANOTHER issue was resolved this morning with these updates:

RESOLVED- 2021 F-150 and Mach-E APIM Software Update Failures

RESOLVED - The Ford Technical Assistance Center and Ford IT teams are aware that due to server related concerns, APIM programming was failing with an error message stating Procedure Unsuccesful - GetConfigDataFromGIVIS Modified Configuration data is missing from Ford server". This has been resolved as of May 5, 2022. Programming is completing properly at this time.

Trying to update GWM from FDRS via the USB and follow the steps (KOEO, insert USB, wait for prompt to turn off and exit vehicle and keep off for at least 5 minutes and keep USB inserted, after 5 mins KOEO and then it tells me update successful, eject USB)...yet FDRS still shows GWM update available. Can someone help me elaborate on how they successfully updated GWM? I would greatly appreciate it.

Did the FDRS do the configuring after the USB portion? Can you look at the log in FDRS to see what it's showing?
