New app - no BEV remote start?

The new Ford pass failed to turn on the AC but it showed the AC was on. These happened more than 50% of the time. If my pet was in the car, she would have been dead. It has been over 100F in TX. Hey @Ford Motor Company ! This is very dangerous. This has to be fixed ASAP!

Ford pass also did not allow to turn on the AC more than 30 minutes.

Could you point out where in the specifications or user manual that it's stated the car is suitable to leave your dog locked inside? Because I don't think that capability is promised anywhere.

Got it. Appreciate your guidance!! Whole thing had me rattled and upset. Ford chat and then hour with Ford Pass made all worse! Lesson learned my 1st stop should have been here…admittedly I felt kinda stupid and thought I was missing something really silly! But…I suppose no dumb question when you truly don’t know answer and more important is having accurate source for correct answer! Why would anyone want to "remote start" an electric vehicle, anyway?

It's an ancient and stone-aged hack to burn fuel in an ICE vehicle to create heat for the cabin. Or run the entire engine wastefully at idle just to spin the AC compressor.

Electric vehicles don't need to "remote start" to accomplish those things.

I don't have to. I paid for the car. The car has an option to set up a comfortable temperature for pet or vegetables.

This might be a result of ford “fixing” the outside temp readings a while back. Their fix was to not update the outside and inside temperatures until you’ve driven a mile or so. I’ve also set it up to use the last settings instead of auto for remote start. I found auto to be too inconsistent and would come back to the heater on when it shouldn’t be. You might want to try “last settings” and turning off the climate auto (the hvac control one not the remote start option) so it will blow whatever you want regardless of the stupid temp sensors.

The car was never on. I blamed my older age at first. Then I tested it while I was standing next to the car. It was not on but Ford pass showed it was on. The light may have been on for some seconds and then off.

I'm trying to anticipate what the marketing / UI folks will do to help with this. Maybe we can get a new name for the mode when the car is parked but with cabin conditioning and the parking lights on: BluePark. That will end the confusion, eh?

Yes I believe that their developers are broken and they only built what they could because they're so limited on their skill set am going to post a bunch of files here that may help people with one thing that was driving bananas but first I'd like to state that when you have that new app it gets pushed automatically if you're on an iPhone unfortunately you still have to delete the app and reinstall it and once you do you lose all the features you set up in your car and you have to redo them all the tech person told me to do this without telling me that would happen not that big deal but just be advised they remove several features from the app because of performance issues I'm sure infrastructure cause and other things are probably apart to simplify certain things and they are stating that people didn't care about a start button or anything like that but here's where we go from here here are some screenshots and I wanted to highlight some things with the plug and play thing you now look at all of that information no longer in the FordPass app you look at it in the service part of their website which you can access through the Ford app here are some screenshots of what to expect when you're trying to plug in charge after you reset up your as a key. Please note that Ford will be sundown in the old app very soon I think within a matter of a month or so they'll be sundowning that older app and it will not work at all for anyone

I sat in the dead car that has been off for a couple of hours.
Texas heat, although not Texas hot yet, admittedly.

Hit the fan button.

Only screen that lit up was the IPC, and with only the typical alert "To Drive, Press Start Button"

But there was no mistaking the HVAC compressor kicking on and the fans wicking up. Both are louder than the drivetrain on a BEV.

Also no doubt about that being nice cold-chilled air blowing from the vents.

Pretty cool button if you asked me.
And honestly, it wasn't that long ago that vehicles that could be cooled off before you even walked up to them, and controlled by remote control with a handheld device, all without burning a drop of fuel, would have been considered Science Fiction.

Well…if you were in suddenly and unexpectedly in wheelchair and life as knew it was turned upside down I don’t think you’d feel you were trying to be impressed. Perhaps you’d be grateful as I am there is technology available so you do not have to ask someone to constantly help with your every need.
I bought car for my unique needs absolutely bc of features it afforded to provide some level of independence. “Walking” to car to test bunch things isn’t feasible. Pumping gas isn’t option. I spent 25 yrs in technology field and finally got courage to use my skills to find vehicle.
It was long difficult journey after emergency thoracic spine surgery, from nearly severed spine. An injury so uncommon it took yrs to diagnose and only after impingement so severe it blocked spinal fluid to my brain. Then told I’d never walk again. After 150 days in hospital, 2 yrs of grueling therapy, I continue fighting every day for independence.
I have trained lab by my side 24/7 for my safety and independence. For all she’s done for me very least I can do is care for her same way she continues to care for me.
I challenge you and annyone else with snide disrespectful comments to spend one day in wheelchair. Let’s see how impressive you find by technology when it’s survival.
I shouldn’t need to share my very personal private reasons I sought help, but there you have it. I only hope perhaps if someone else asks for help, each of you will take pause, think of me and not pass such harsh unkind judgement while you don’t have to actually face person or have any idea who and what they’re really all about. really?? That’s not what was written! Nor was what I said in my post which is what started this thread. And for your information, those of us disabled DO need that feature for various reasons you clearly don’t have mental capacity to even begin to understand.

correct. It pushed to me on iPhone in last 4/5 days. No warning. No notice. Thanks for additional info. I posted lengthy Utube that has some decent info also.
It seems obvious being DISABLED, for those of you who have completely overlooked WHY I needed specific help, I need to spend time reviewing all of changes in greater detail. Far more than my original posted question.
I’ve noticed some other changes like no charge history pre April 2024. I did confirm phone as key and charging preferences both carried over.

Oh I see, you said AC so I thought you meant the AC specifically. I’ve never had that specific issue.
There isn’t any obvious sign the car is On when remote starting but you can definitely hear the contactors cycle, depending on your settings you may or may not hear the hvac system.

Certainly! Try looking under D in dictionary. Spell D I S A B L E D. If you need user manual for disability try Federal govt ADA. That should enlighten you.
For your smarty pants information, she’s a GUIDE DOG. I guess being disabled doesn’t make any sense to you. There are instances where she must be left in car period. Yes it’s quite suitable. She’s works 24/7 to protect and care for me. So when doctor runs late and she’s in car you betcha I’m gonna run AC. she’d lose her mind if I left house without her. Unlike many of you fresh unkind humans she’s knows her place unequivocally.

Thank goodness someone else with some common sense! I couldn’t agree more!! I bought for my unique, very specific needs. What diff does make what those needs are??!! That’s what it’s supposed to do, why I chose it and same as you; what I paid for! And bought 2nd one bc it technology worked so well for me. Why would they completely change app no notice and then push down as update?! Even Apple allows users to decide if they want new IOS! Thank uuuuuu for simplifying )

Unfortunately you've now seen the other side of this forum. Tough guys hiding behind a keyboard with nothing to add of any value . They drop by a thread and blow it up with attitude .
