Hi,

I just got my Mach E Premium AWD with extended battery. However during delivery process it showed only 170 miles range @ 100% charge level. I drove the car till the charge level went down to 30% at that time it showed my 26 miles range remaining.

Now I am charging it at home using 110 v outlet but at 78% charge it still shows only 130 miles range.

How long do we expect till we get range closer to the adertisement of 270 miles?

You need to reset the EV driving history and start measuring again with clean history. It wont be EPA but should do better. Unless you drive it like a race car driver and then yes, you can expect half the distance.

1. Dealership did not tell me about reset, unless they did it.
2. I drove approx. 112 miles @speed of 25 mph (snowy roads in Dallas this week) before the charge went down from 100 to 30% and range went down from 170 miles to 26 miles.
3. I am charging inside my garage.
4. Ambient temps this week in Dallas are between 0 to 25 F, but most driving was in temp range of 15-20.

You need to reset the Driver History Settings

Thanks I did reset and the range @ 80% jumped from 120 miles to 175 miles. hopefully this will improve in future when the temperatures increase from 20s to 60s.

Ya, you can't even remotely expect to get 270 miles of range with the weather that we've had in DFW this week.

You’re in cold weather? There’s your answer. As many people have pointed out, EVs lose as much as 50% of their expected range due to the cold.

So I noticed on our ICE Volvo XC90 the range for a full tank of gas is typically around 400. With our cold weather, it is showing a full tank of gas at 285 miles of estimated range. I want to remind folks that it is not only EVs that have less range in the cold weather. That is a 30% drop in range for an ICE vehicle in weather around 10-20 degrees. As I showed in other posts, my Tesla Model 3 also gets horrible range but my Tesla will show me an estimated range of 270 when I start it up but I actually get about 190 in cold weather.

So just keep things in perspective.

Right. But since ICE vehicles can be refueled so quickly, nobody seems to notice or care about the range.

If you can tolerate it, you could extend your range by driving with climate control off and using the heated seat and steering wheel. The PTC heater that heats up the coolant for the climate control is a significant power consumer.
