New notification coming from my android phone when connected

This may have been posted before but it appears the start of better data transmission between phone and car is coming on Android.

I know recently they were talking about how Google maps is supposed to get ev charger route based planning so maybe this will be similar to what apple has currently.


When I click it it takes me to this page. Have not installed any new apps that I know of

If I recall correctly I used to see that same notification as a result of my Sygic GPS app communicating directly with the Mach-E head unit. Meaning the Sygic app used to show up as an app (outside of Android Auto or Carplay) when you clicked the Mach-E app button on the car, so it would show alongside the tire pressure app, the built-in maps, radio etc.., and it was using that smart device link protocol to communicate from my phone directly with the vehicle head unit and offer up app projection to the vehicle.

Funny you mentioned that because I actually still have Sygic installed on my phone, but no longer see it listed under the Mach-E apps, and I now only see it available when using Android Auto. It must be somehow I disabled a while ago, or got disabled as the result of an OTA update on the vehicle.

It's quite old tech at this point. Just for funsies, I tried it two years ago with the iHeartRadio app just to see how it looked in a Mach-E. It was kinda weird.

What was weird is I got back in my car later and that app notification is now gone. So very confused

Just got it for the first time too. I just re-set up my paak yesterday cuz it wasn't working. Now the Paak works, but got this notification. I just changed the setting so I don't get the smart link notification anymore.

I have started getting this on my android phone this week as well.

I just started getting this notification for all my Ford vehicles. Assumed it was the recent Android update I got.
