I have been using the charger provided with the Mach-E and I set the schedule and percent to charge on the Ford Pass app. Today I was starting to use it again and it asked to pair with the Ford charge station. I had not done that previously, so I downloaded the app to do that and proceeded. However, it always says "trouble pairing." I have restarted the phone and the app and it just will not succeed. First, why would this be necessary as It has already been working without pairing with the charger? Second, why won't it pair?

Response to first question: It's not necessary. You tapped the wrong item.

Response to second question: Pairing is a necessary step while configuring the Ford Connected Charge Station to connect to the Internet. You don't have the FCCS. As a result, you won't need to install its app or to go through those steps.

The charger provided with the vehicle is called the Ford Mobile Charger.

Thanks. What is the difference between the two?

FCCS is a hardwired permanent install that will charge your MME faster.

The Ford mobile chg does not do wifi and Max's out @ 38 amps. I have Lg steel garage so very poor wifi. I set up the mobile chg that came with the mache @ 240v 14/50 and it was very easy to programe a chg schedule from the main screen. Car charges in 10 hrs. Works well for me.

Ever since Ford pushed a software upgrade in 2021 I have not been able to get the charger to pair automatically or manually.
