I'd love to stick with Ford, but they can't seem to figure out the software thing even after 3 years. Time and patience has run out with Ford's "Soon". You could spend your entire lease or loan period waiting for an update to fix an issue. Look how long the frunk button took for early 2021s.

If the customer experience mattered, Ford would have created a program for dealers to update all early EVs to the latest software free of charge to bypass shortcomings with their OTA process. And the UI improvements we've long asked for would have been implemented in months, not years.

That R3x looks amazing. Also the Volvo ex30 Cross country. They're both ruggedized small ev's. I could go with a lyriq too if they get their software figured out.

I usually keep my cars for about 10 years.

I love my MME and I don’t drive much anymore because I’m retired. I’ve had my car since July 23 and only have 1,900 miles on it. I plan on keeping it for a long time and it’s paid off.

Not knowing what will be built down the road who knows what I will buy. I’ve kicked around the idea of upgrading to the GTPE or rally but my premium is a beautiful car.

I’m looking at the iX right now. Any type of special offer could make me pull the trigger.

Probably another 4-5 years at least for me before the Mach e gets replaced. When that happens, EV options will be plentiful and I’ll probably go back to only buying from the lightly used market to save a ton of cash.

Right now I’m thinking either a polestar 3, polestar 4, or BMW iX. We already have a Rivian R1S as our other car or I’d probably throw a Rivian option in the mix too. Who knows what will come out and be available between now and then though. Anything is possible

I mean, outside of Rivian and Tesla - I feel like Ford may actually be the most competent automaker in terms of software with BlueCruise and OTAs. Godspeed on your journey to something else

I have already purchased a Volvo C40 Recharge to go along with my Mach-e. I will probably get another Volvo electric product when I'm done with the Ford. The EX30 is high on my list for a new daily driver.

I’m probably keeping mine for another 7-10 years. At that point, who knows? It totally depends on what’s available. My replacement for the MME will likely be another EV of as of yet unknown manufacture. Before that happens I may have bought a Pontiac or two, so the next car will likely be ICE and fully analog. ?ā€ā™‚?

I’m firmly in the ā€œwait and see what’s availableā€ camp. We are a one car household currently but I could see us getting an additional car in 3-4 years, which would likely be when we replace our MachE.

As far as what I would want for an all purpose EV:

1. 800V battery and better batteries. I want FAST fast charging. The new Taycan is incredible with ~13 minute 10-80 on a big pack.

2. Better thermal management. All things have been discussed ad-nausem. HVJB, gray-bars and high-end power limit, regen at high SOC.

3. Better software and UI. I’ve been lucky overall with bugs in my 23 but the software is certainly wanting. It’s slow, looks dated, and rather feature limited. And of course OTA updates and bug fixes. When Rivian accidentally bricked a small portion of cars with an update they had a fix deployed with a day or two. I shudder to think of Fords timeline for something like that. The CMR fix timeline does not inspire confidence.

4. Excellent high-way assist. I love my MachE but I also love getting to relax a little bit on roadtrips. Hands free driving with BC1.2 is one of my favorite features in the car. Nearly all highways near me are mapped and my commute is probably 85% handsfree. Plus frequent trips up north and to LA are easy since I-10 and I-17 have good coverage.

I think ford has done some things well in this first generation but I need to see big improvements all around (plus the dealers) to get a gen2 EV from them. I like Rivian’s but I want to see if they can survive a little longer before jumping on that ship. Plus I would love a small-midsize pickup from them. There’s lots of things I like and a lot I don’t like about Tesla’s. Porsche needs to add damn 1-peddle. The Korean cars have looked very nice so far. Who knows where I will land.

I really like driving my MachE. My options financing expired in Feb and I chose to keep it instead of trading it. So will keep it at least another three years. Would like to get another MachE hoping that in three years it will be better in many ways. But who knows.. I might choose another EV at that time if they are better.

As things stand today, likely a Rivian R2. But there's a lot of calendar between now and availability of that vehicle, so time will tell.

It’s going to be in the early 2030s, so I have no idea what the car market will be like. If I had to speculate, EV, probably something used, maybe two years old, and low mileage.

I have a year or so left on my Ford Options plan. Happy with the car and what it has cost me. Will run the numbers on keeping (paying ~20k balloon) vs selling it at that time vs turning it in.

Don’t know if the 2025 MachE models will have any significant changes besides NACS. I don’t see many other compelling vehicles that I’d go for instead. ā€œBetterā€ cars cost a LOT more or have notable non-monetary downsides, no slam dunk alternative that I have seen so far.

I’ve been hoping a nice plug-in hybrid might come out from someone besides a RAV4 or Prius Prime (both fine automobiles but not my jam). I plan to do some serious looking over the holidays this year and go from there.

I couldn’t have said it better. I had only some trivial gremlins with the car but the overall experience for customers has been subpar in my view.

Not that Hyundai and Kia EV owners are doing better (worse by most accounts) and don’t get me started on ID4 pains (my coworkers complains weekly about the issues).

If someone made a fun and practical EV that was relatively ā€œdumbā€ and skipped the self driving and connected stuff, I’d probably buy that. Just have a solid UI, support CarPlay and Android, and have mostly physical buttons, I’d be happy. Less to go wrong…hopefully.

I really won’t be replacing the MME, but I might get an additional EV in like 5-6 years, maybe an Ionic 6 N, or if there something even sportier/spicier/performance oriented in the in the segment of EV space at that time.
