Nissan Leaf range

This morning while at a charging station a guy with a Nissan Leaf showed up. I asked him what the range was on his vehicle. He said it was eleven years old and had a range of 43 miles. Made me appreciate my 250 mile range at 90%

That was either a 24 or 30 KWH car. And 9 years old to boot.

The 24kWh 2013 Leaf was my first full electric - in Toronto.
Bought new, drove 4 years 175k, to/from work 42km each way. Had about 120km range in summer and 70 in winter
some Winter range challenges but put in a charger at work and all good. Our family van was the range extender so it was perfect.

0 service, 0 recalls, 0 gas, decent app to manage climate.

Was a very great clear realization that electric cars are going to kill the current dealership model as these things just run and don’t need service….
My 2021 Mach-e hasn’t had such a clean run with service and recalls but doing ok….

An old Leaf is great second EV for driving around town, running errands, etc. We're borrowing Kyle Conner's Leaf right now and we end up using it a lot -- especially for local places where parking is great.

We had a 2018 second gen Nissan Leaf with the 40kwh battery. Bought it new in late 2017. Drove it until July of 2020 when we simply needed a larger vehicle. Full charge would give me about 154 miles of range. It was a great car. It sold us on EV ownership. We lived in the Phoenix area at the time, drove the Leaf back and forth to work everyday, about 60 miles round-trip each day. It was a great car for that purpose.

Ford should be grateful for the good Ole Nissan Leaf. The Leaf allowed me to take a very low risk dip into the EV pool. Literally an impulse acquisition too.
I learned so much about the reality of living with an EV.

And THAT is why a Mach-E is now outside my door. I had never even considered a Mach-E or any EV until that harmless little Leaf wooed me for a ride.

Same, I bought a 2013 used for $6k, drove it 4 years, 45k miles, didnt spend a dime on it and sold it for the same $6k. I had a 45mile round trip commute, all highway, so that was the limit of the car, especially in winter.

So the bolt seems like a small EV as well. What kind of mileage EV get?

I had a 2013 LEAF that I sold in 2023. It had 90K miles and still 80 mile of range (that’s almost the same as new)

I don’t know how some lose so much capacity over mine. Then again, I live in a mild climate, and I hardly used DCFC.

We have had a 2013 Leaf for about 6 years. Bought for $10k and have spent nothing on repairs. Degradation is bad with the air cooled battery and am down to 7 bars and about 45 miles. Living in the city, this is still plenty for 85% of our driving. Have always charged using the 110v wall outlet in the carport. Very comfortable car.

So the bolt seems like a small EV as well. What kind of mileage EV get?

The bolt is a 64kwh battery, so goes 260 miles, although on highway it takes a bigger hit than Mach-e does. I paid almost nothing for my 2020 Bolt Premier after federal and state used rebates.

We use the Bolt around town and places where my wife expects to get door dings.
