Pizza. Well at least the dough. It’s on the top shelf cold fermenting atm. Fermenting things in a car though is generally considered bad form.
I don’t know. Dark, warm place. Not for a lager of course, but maybe ale or bread or kimchi?

I’m confused. Will I still be able to use CarPlay in my 2022? What functionality if any will be missing going forward with new iPhones??

The question originally presented was about the potential new car operating system (Android Automotive) and when it might appear. Android Automotive is not Android Auto. The former is an OS for cars, the latter the Android type of CarPlay. The Android Automotive, whenever it does arrive, will support CarPlay. It’s extremely unlikely that current generation cars will be able to be switched to Android Automotive.

But can I still use CarPlay from my iPhone in my car? That feature won’t go away? That’s my question.

I could possibly live without CarPlay in my car, but I don't want to a "@gmail.com" account to own a car.

Test drove a car with AAOS recently and as best I understand it, AAOS is built assuming you will have a "@gmail.com" account. Without it your ownership experience is significantly limited.

Retired. I'd say it was a mid life crisis, but not many people live to 140.

Apparently people now make car buying decisions based on a car’s compatibility (or not) with their phone.
Apple is not a phone.

It is an ecosystem that improves our lives with safety and in privacy.

The security and privacy are half the reason GM wants them out.

But that is just a small part of the ecosystem’s excellence.

Didn't Ford at least offer a new processor for the APIM to owners in China? You had to get like 3 people to test drive a Mach-e or something like that, but it never made its way stateside. That would be nice to at least get rid of the lag...
No thanks. I definitely don’t want any Chinese software in my vehicle.

I was reading one interview, and that was one of the main motivators behind GM developing their own system and ditching Android Auto/CarPlay was to force people into a subscription model to be able to use their infotainment screens. Will it work, I sure hope not.

However, on my other half's Tesla they've paid the $13/month for the "connected" package, that gives live traffic, map updates, and full streaming. They've done that mostly for the convenience and it's not really a "burden" on the budget. Admittedly if the Mach E had all the streaming capabilities of the the Tesla (rather than paying to "unlock" Alexa), I'd also pay for that since I would get full native YouTube and whatever else to watch while I'm charging since I do not have a home or work charger available to me.
I can watch full, native YouTube on my iPhone ?

Well a processor would be hardware….which you already have Chinese hardware (and probably software) in your vehicle….
