anyone swap out the 12v standard battery for one of the Ohmu lithium batteries? any feedback on them. I like the idea of being able to monitor the battery status via their app.

The Battery Management System is not programmed for this type of battery, so it’s not generally considered optimal to replace the AGM battery with a lithium one. 🤔🐩

I am more interested in the OHMMU sodium battery, but since ford just activated battery monitoring/alert that pushes to our phones I will now just wait for my 12v to start failing before I do anything. 3.5yrs and still going strong.

Can I replace the AGM battery with a lithium or LFP battery?

No, they are not compatible with Ford's managed charging system (despite what some battery companies claim). 12V lithium batteries operate at a different voltage point than 12V AGM batteries. The charging and BMS system of the Mach-E is calibrated for AGM battery chemistry only. If you put in a lithium battery, the BMS will not measure the state of charge % correctly, and the lithium battery may not be charged fully due to the lower voltage setpoint of AGM. For example, while driving the voltage is normally held around 12.9V, this will perfectly maintain an AGM at 100%, but a lithium battery will only be held at 20% SoC. This means a lithium battery will gradually discharge while driving to 20%. Load shed will eventually activate, causing your radio, HVAC, and accessories to shut down.

Some Ωf these lithium batteries are a borderline scam because they are extremely overpriced and contain cheap internal components held together with tape and spray foam. These will not perform better than a new AGM battery, save your money and buy the AGM.

Someone a few years ago cracked one open. It is not a pretty sight how this thing is held together:

As a sometimes electronics assembler, this is impressively terrible
Yeah it’s crazy people spend $500 on them thinking they’re somehow better. Everything in there probably costs less than $100 to make and the rest is pure profit.

Negative cables barely soldered on one end (and presume the positive cable is same), crimped on the other...seems safe, what could possibly go wrong?

We can't see that, but supposedly will get an alert as it starts to fall.

I called into my Vancouver WA ford dealer a few months ago to proactively replace the battery that on their screen I was at 89%. So for some reason they had it but it has not made it to the app yet. At 89% I thought I would wait......yes, I did ask them if it was the 12V so maybe the person I spoke to was confused.

I just bought an open from http://FordPartsGiant.com

Just yesterday purchased and swapped out a ford battery from http://FordPartsGiant.com.
Based on the labels, it’s a ford battery for $151.00 (this includes shipping.)

part number BAGM- H3.

For it’s worth: I’ve gotten other OEM parts from and they appear to be genuine.
