My dealer told me he thinks he'll have his demo the second week of January 2021 so I agree with you; they ALL haven't left Mexico yet (except for Norway).

And I suspect even the ones in the Norway picture are probably pre-production show cars.

I was a bit unhappy that orders placed way after mine were getting built so much sooner than my MME Premium.

But it must be maddening to know your car is built and sitting in a parking lot somewhere!!!

49 days to go until mine gets built. But who is counting???? ? ?

The way it looks, I won't really be all that far behind you guys!!!

Build order is not the same as shipment order.

It's a queueing problem... you know, first in, last out of the parking area....

RH27 is shared by multiple dealers in California. If the car was shipping by rail directly to the dealership there would be a rail transfer listed and a destination in Ramp Two. CA1 for example...

So might still be rail to LA, just offloaded to truck for the last 20 miles?

I think that's probably what most thought rail meant anyway in 99.9% of cases. (Galpin with their own rail spur notwithstanding.)

Do you know if Galpin’s trail spur is still active? There are lots of disconnected rail spots around the country.

A few weeks ago, my Ford order page showed it would be built the week of 1/18. Since then, it's just been blank. It still says scheduled for build the week of. But then there is no date.

Any idea what's going on?

I'm in no rush. Just curious.

I believe if it was rail to LA there would have to be a rail transfer because I do not see a direct rout from the factory to California.

With the amount of cars going to California it does make sense to dedicate some rail cars for that region but I have yet to see a window sticker with indications of such.

Closest thing I heard (and it was several weeks ago...) was the possibility of sending rail cars to El Paso because that is one of the possible rail routes that I am aware of. I suppose that still remains a possibility but its anyone's guess at the moment until we learn more details.

The code in the Ramp box communicates to the unloaders where to park the vehicle when it comes off the train. When that area is full, they are loaded on some other type of transport to that region, usually a truck transport but it could be another rail car, or ship etc.

At least that is how I think it normally works. This scenario is a wild card though. There could be an variety of different methods in place by now.

For all we know.....the reason these cars might still be there is because the original shipping plan was modified and a new system for decoding the handling instructions needed to be developed and communicated. All cars might not be sent to KC hub.....some might take a different path. It would be fascinating to sit in on those planning meetings for shipping these things.

I just checked some old forums for different Ford vehicles and it appears as though "CONVOY" means by truck. This is from 2010, so many things could have changed since then.

yes Galpin rail is VERY active. The get the majority of their vehicles by rail. It takes it into their HUGE new car storage area.Adjacent to the rail station is their new car prep building.
