I use it and love it. You can still use the brakes if you need to stop quicker. It just takes a little adjustment time.

Exclusively, 1PD here since July 2021. Honestly, I don't like having to brake in my Wife's ICE car. I joke with her and tell her it is "beneath me and demeaning" ? ? ?

I tried 1PD during my first test drive, loved it, and have used it since.

I can't say as much for a car with a 3rd pedal and a manual transmission.
LOL I can pretty much not use that left pedal when I am thinking about it but when I’m hammering at the car I still use it when downshifting and braking. It’s supposed to be faster to go clutchless, but after what Shane Van Giesbergen did to the Cup field in Chicago… ??

common misunderstanding that I attribute to Tesla...

the MME uses blended braking... in 2pd when you press the brake, it engages recharge till it is not enough deceleration and then it blends in friction brakes. Driven within the deceleration limits of recharge, you never use the brakes even with 2 pedal driving. Thus the same brake wear and battery recharge 1pd and 2pd.

Teslas don't do this... if you press the brake, there is no blend... it is just the brake. people assume wrongly that all eVs work this way... really just about only Teslas work that way.

I had no idea. We only drive in 1 pedal and I assumed due the the constant rust on the discs that they weren't hardly used at all

If you don't push the brake past a certain threshold it will just use regeneration all the way to stop. To really get the rust off you have to really romp on the brake, or after a car wash I switch into neutral when I'm coming to a stop and hit the brakes which will use friction brakes only.

1PD is pretty solid in really bad stop and go traffic. I use it but I have mixed feelings outside of that use case.

I think the transition from coasting on ACC and full 1PD is pretty rough and abrupt which takes points away on a no or low congestion highway situation.

On the streets I feel like I still stop a little long sometimes depending on the situation and end up 2PD, I know this is a matter of feel but its still easier to 2PD sometimes.

1PD feels to me, like if you are in a performance ICE with a manual transmission, and you floor it in 3rd gear and then back off the throttle. That piston engine compression swapped for regenerating electric motors. I exclusively use 1 pedal engage and in snow, whisper.

Do most of the knowledgeable members use this? Does it have safety data suggesting it is as safe as regular braking? It is a little scary to me as sometimes it is hard not to brake more quickly than I meant to. Is it worth it?
Our Mach E has 1PD disabled. We only use 2PD because we swap cars all the time in our household and want a consistent experience. It works great, no complaints.

I think the blended braking in the Mach E feels perfectly on-point and provides the best of all worlds -- coast ability in heavy traffic without getting seasick, dynamic regen capability modulated by the pedal throw, and "oh shit mode" if you really put the pedal down.

I drive equally poorly with both. All kidding aside, I love 1PD driving. I, and my wife also, got used to it very quickly. The only problem I have is going from 1 PD to ICE. it can be a real shock when you’re in an ICE vehicle, you let off the gas, but the car does not decelerate.
Or, you let off the brake and the car starts rolling.

1PD will also use the physical brakes under certain circumstances like cold batteries( this way 1PD always acts as expected). Cruise control also uses physical brakes to maintain speed and make small changes, then regen for slightly more braking, then finally back to physical brakes for heavy braking. Ford did a really good job with 1PD and blending, then they made it worse, then mostly fixed it lol.
I learned a lot about how the car uses brakes when I had chunks of brake pads stuck to my rotors haha.

I tried it but don't care for it. I guess I am a 2-pedal driver.

I love the 1 pedal . I gotten so use to it as my Mach E GTPE is my daily driver . When I drive my ICE car and let off the accelerator I think my car is broken it don’t immediately slow down ??. It’s really preference .

I don't have to drive on ice or snow but im almost 30k miles in and love 1PD. I like the soft stop and being able to relax my foot at every stop, even hills. But when my wife if riding with me she makes me turn it off. You can ask her but I think is just a case of a passenger-driver syndrome.
