It’s been bugging me for a little while now, but it’s become a bit more annoying now due to the summer heat we’re facing.

Anyone notice that the car, if started remotely, will turn itself off if the frunk is opened, either by PAAK or the door panel code?

Opening a door or the hatch while the car is remotely started does not result in this behavior, the car will stay on until the remote timer expires. But as soon as you open the frunk, the whole thing shuts down. And if I remember correctly, you cannot remotely start the car until the frunk has been lifted and closed shut again.

I find it annoying, especially when I’m trying to cool the car while loading up the frunk.

Anyone who uses the frunk regularly experience this issue?

Yes, although it’s not ridiculous, a little annoying yes but it’s better than my damn Nissan that I traded in you could not open the door and back up and look where you’re going that was a pain in the neck.

Yes. It’s very annoying especially now when temperatures rise. I assume ford engineers didn’t expected customers will use the frunk on constant basis. With remote start on, before open the frunk I turn on the car. It’s inconvenient, but at least AC continues working.

Good idea, guess I’ll have to start doing that then!

But man, did Ford really think we wouldn’t actually be putting sushi into our frunks every summer outing like they suggested?

I get that maybe it shouldn’t, but what’s the downside? Do you often need to remote start, then open the frunk, then close the frunk and walk away with remote start still going? If you’re in the frunk then aren’t you getting in the car two second later?

Could be worse. My wife's RAV4 Prime will stop its remote start when you open ANY door. Because clearly you want to stop the climate when you get into the car?

Yeah, I actually use the frunk quite a lot, so often I’m taking at least two trips loading perishables and other non-critical items into it.

1) Open frunk.
2) Start car.
3) Load frunk.

Whelp, guess I’ll have to do that and put up with that double-honk after starting the car.

Not that I’m complaining, but that’s an issue on its own, especially during the later hours.

But thanks for the suggestion, anything helps at this point!

I use remote start and frunk for 3-4 times per day.

1) Open frunk.
2) Start car.
3) Load frunk.
Correction:

1) Remote star
2) Open and start car
3) Open and load frunk

Had the same issue with this stupid load doable honk. Especially at night or unknown locations. Luckily it can be disabled. Big thank for @markboris for helping me to disable double honk.

I thought that once the remote start was canceled the car had to be in-cabin started and shut down before another remote start could be issued. It’s actually nice to know all I need to do is close the frunk in order to issue another remote start. ?‍♂?

Why?

What's the purpose of remote starting first? When you open the frunk, it will turn off. Just skip your first step, unless you're talking about letting the cabin warm / cool.
