The tool to fix the issue you're having isn't available yet. They will almost certainly get stuck
So I'm guessing the technician on the computer isn't going to come back with any fixes after I've been here for an hour.

Almost certainly but there is always an off chance
Well I'm back in a loaner and they are going to continue to try and get it to update everything else.

As for the Sync update issues we've all been having, I just had my car at the dealer for this concern along with another TSB, and this is their response about Sync:

Ford Mustang Mach-E OTA 1.7.1 Stuck, anyone else have issue updating? PXL_20211227_205453973

Ford Mustang Mach-E OTA 1.7.1 Stuck, anyone else have issue updating? PXL_20211227_205506025

The "new to me" information here is that the car will attempt to update for a maximum of 30 minutes per day and 150 minutes per month. That seems like a *really* bizarre way to run a cloud-based software update system, but maybe it will shed some light into why the failed 1.7.1 updates haven't yet tried again for some of us.

@Ford Motor Company , if you're listening, please make information like this update "monthly time limit" transparent to us. Put it in the manual.

I think that time limit is in reference to what the dealer has told the tech they are allowed to do. There is no time limit in regards to the mother ship communicating with the car

That doesn't make any sense -- why would the tech limit "updates" (what updates are they referring to -- they can't update Sync there) to 150 minutes a month?

My theory is the dealership is saying they are limiting the tech to 30min a day and 150min a month of working on OTA updates due to how they pay as a warranty claim as they don't want to pay the tech out of their pocket. Again, just a guess at this point.

Just what Ford told me as far as the dealer being unable to update to 1.7.1. Didn’t know about how long it tries to do update though. What a mess this has turned out to be.

Each OTA push from the Ford server lasts for 14 days before it times out

Nah, this is about the car trying to download. They are essentially giving you free data by the FordPass communication, and downloads.

The car will try for 30 mins per day to grab an update, back out if there are issues to avoid it using a very poor speed signal to get a large update.

I have poor ATT signal by my house, wasn't getting updated. I decided to remote start my car 2x while at work which has 5G UC and is better all around, and 1.7.1 was installed.

I guarantee it's not a thing about tech's given 30 minutes per day to troubleshoot, rather that's the car.

Also, he meant cell reception, not WiFi.

That time limit for cell data use makes sense, since they're paying for the subscriptions. But honestly, it shouldn't apply if the car's connected to the owner's home wifi -- I'm hoping wifi connection exempts the car from this time limit.
Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to speed things up in my case, anyway.

Any updates? So the dealer can’t do the 1.7.1 update?
My update said expired? Any ideas?
Someone on the f150 forum said if it’s expired it won’t try again and I have to go to the dealer? Yet the dealer cant do it from what I read on here? So confusing.
Any ideas on i lf it will retry after it says expired? Even tho my auto update won’t turn on still nor will update notifications won’t turn on.
Thanks

Ok thanks reason I ask now is that I have to take it to get something else fixed. I’m a couple weeks.
So I guess the dealer won’t be able to do a manual update if the problem I’m having with not being able to turn updates on etc ? As I have read some people have had the dealer try in this instance and it won’t work? Thanks
