I've got sooo many questions about this update and all updates as well:
1. The notification I got through the FordPass app has no built-in link. Manually searching for the link provided goes nowhere (just back too support). Searching in the web page in support bring up many link that likewise go nowhere.
2. My charge cord lock has always worked and the lock button next to the plug still does nothing.
3. Why doesn't the (LAME) FordPass App store full details (or even a web page reference to) the history?
4. I had update scheduled for MO-TH @1-5AM but this one came in yesterday apparently at 2PM. This is dangerous! I don't want app updates while I'm driving!!!
5. There's no support on weekends. Why?
2. The charge cord lock is only active when DC-fast charging, not 120V or 240V charging.

3. The update schedule only applies to inhibit updates, which make the car undriveable for a certain amount of time. Other updates install essentially immediately.

5. Because most of Ford's employees who could help are salaried and work M-F. Updates used to never come on weekends because of this, but I think that some low-risk updates might push on weekends now.

If 2023 are now getting this, one can assume this will come to 2022 models.

I just got SYNC-25.2.1.6.5 while public L2 charging midday. Apparently it didn't resume charging or it took more than 30 minutes to install. I got bumped off the charging station for not charging then I had to find another available charger. My schedule is to update at 1 a.m.

Not good.

APIM updates are installed while the vehicle is on and driving, so this update and certain other modules do not follow the auto updates scheduled time.
I will say it again since the same concern keeps popping up. This update will install while the vehicle is on and running. APIM, GWM and TCU are done with the vehicle running whether they come in OTA or are installed by the dealer or owner with FDRS.

Re-read this thread but didn't see any 2023 models that said they got this. Did you see that in another post somewhere?

Got this about 2 weeks ago any my CarPlay issues seem fixed (no audio when starting the car). But now I get a few audio skips like every 30 mins for a few quick seconds. Could also be attributed to iOS 18 which has been terrible for me

I got this update today as I drove, clarified by @rugedraw many times.

It seems to have undone some forscan modifications that I did - removed double honk when walking away, and the tututungs as the car is turned on before clicking belts on.

Now that I know I have no control over some updates that must be done when running the vehicle (a travesty), I'd like to know (from NHSTA?) if updaters done this way which may result in accidents or fatalities are at my risk or Ford's? I am forced to re-enable the updates I guess and try to limit them where possible. Also some of them apparently have not been rolled out to us lowly users who aren't in the EAP. How's that affect my liability moreover the reliability of the product?

I like the visual indicator of the three modes on the driver's display. When will that be generally available?

Saying again, that's on Ford, it's developers and should be better controlled as to when and how they are implemented. Kicked off charging due to installing while charging is another instance of poor updating process and/or design, IMO. Moreover, us simple users have no control over it. Bottom: Not good. Shouldn't this have been discovered in the EAP program (had the update been released there first for some time), BTW? Was it??

Reiterated my strong opinion that no updates of any kind be allowed without user approval or positive interaction.

Troubleshoot an OTA Update or Complaints - OTA Department CS Phone: 1(833) 389-0848 (NB,, they bear no responsibility for scheduling the updates, however). Hours: 8A-8P ET MO-FR; 8A-6PM ET SA
Ford Corporate Management contact: FMC Customer Relationship Center (filed a case number on the OTA lack of control (ending in K6G4) as to when and under what conditions the SYNC updates will occur in the future. With the recommendations that:
  1. The user should have authorization after download, prior to EACHThe update schedule restriction do not currently restrict some OTA update installations, including SYNC updates.
  2. Provide further positive assurances that updates do not occur for ALL Updates (including SYNC) while the vehicle is charging (so as to preclude the occurrence of incomplete charging or uncontrollable events while in a Public Charging environment.
  3. A complete report of SYNC4/4A Update History be available to all registered users of the product. Links currently available and listed in the Ford MacH-e web pages link to empty pages.

Vehicle must be off to charge, so whatever kicked him off the charger, it wasn't the OTA. The updates that tend rarely cause issues are the ones thar require the vehicle to be parked. The ones that install while the vehicle is on will either successfully install or fail, but they won't cause a tangible problem with the vehicle itself. The ones that require the vehicle to be parked are the ones that rarely "brick" a vehicle.

Received SYNC-24.2.1.6.5 last night some time. I'm not in EAP, as far as I know...

But how would I know? How would I know anything about updates? I don't think I have yet received the 10.2.0. But how would I know? Not feeling quite as vociferous here as Henry, but the lack of information and control on updates is really crap.

It’s fun to see all the new 2024 owners complain about updates ?. Us old timers don’t even pay mind anymore lol.
