I’m no expert, but I think this happens on 2 occasions…. 1) you have the key fob on your person, you exit the vehicle and it is not completely shut off, and (2) you try to lock it and something isn’t completely closed.

We’re in Venice, CA. I’ll absolutely tell him. But I’m sorry, could you explain what’s happening because I’ve not heard of this double honk you mention.
thanks a lot, yeah would really appreciate it!

The double honk happens if you exit the car and shut the door with fob/phone in pocket while the car is still on. Doesn’t matter if I haven’t even moved an inch away from the car, as soon as the door shuts,

H O N K ! H O N K !

Very annoying when rushing for work during the morning hours and I forgot my coffee or something. I can’t be the only one who deals with this every now and then when leaving my apartment complex at 4:00 in the morning.

Also, the in-car startup/seatbelt/door chimes are much too excessive. 2-4 chimes is reasonable, but more often than not, I count almost 8-10 chimes for very minor things like turning the car on without a seatbelt or opening a door with the car on. The loud, repeated bassey notes are particularly painful with tinnitus.

if you don’t mind, I have a few other feature requests/improvements I’d like to share whenever you get to speak to him!

Another very important feature I think would be a vehicle lock/unlock indicator in the FordPass app. One of my friend’s Hyundai has this in their app, and it’s extremely useful for confirming that the car did in fact auto lock itself after walking away from it. Right now, all it says is “vehicle parked” with isn’t very useful.

A “door/liftgate/frunk open” banner would also be very handy if someone forgot and left a door slightly cracked - especially the frunk, which requires a really firm hand to properly shut. Nothing crazy, just a small note somewhere in the app reading “door open” or “frunk open”. Hyundai’s equivalent app has vehicle lock/unlock indicators, as well as door open/close indicators for quickly checking and making sure everything’s shut tight and alright, so maybe the Ford team can take some notes from Hyundai’s app and implement something similar for checking vehicle security in FordPass.

I don’t know if this is possible, but would be much nicer to not have to punch in the entire door key code every time I want to open the frunk when the car is already unlocked or I’m standing right by the car, hands full, with fob and PAAK in pocket. Since the frunk has no external access point, making the 7/8 button press a one-touch operation when conditions are met would be sweet. Just like I can open the liftgate with a single button press on the rear when the car is already unlocked or the fob/PAAK happen to be nearby, making the exterior frunk access point a one-touch interaction under the same circumstances would really improve the usability/accessibility of the frunk!

Also on accessing the frunk: I think it would be much better to have the frunk and trunk buttons always visible on the center screen whenever in park, so that we don’t have to tap the settings icon, then wait 2-5 seconds for the icons to load before we can open the trunk/frunk from inside the car. The icons can gray out or even disappear entirely when driving, but as soon as we shift into park, both the trunk and frunk icons should immediately appear at the top row of the screen, without us having to first tap the settings icon. Would make opening both the trunk and the frunk from the inside much easier and quicker, especially considering that the center screen will shut off immediately as soon as a door is opened after powering off the car. Since those touch screen buttons are the only electronic access points inside the car for both the frunk and trunk, they should always be readily accessible wherever the vehicle is put in park.

Another Hyundai-inspired feature: when reversing, the rear camera turns on. Nothing different there. But when you shift into drive, the front camera comes on, and stays on until you reach a certain speed (probably 5-10 miles)! Right now, every time I shift into drive just to nudge a couple of inches forward, I have to tap the camera icon again so that I can see what’s near my front splitter. So I find myself tapping the camera icon every couple of seconds just to inch a little forward before switching to reverse again. Having the front camera come on and stay on when shifting into drive until you get to a certain speed would make parking into tight spaces much easier. I’ve always found Ford’s backup camera system to be the most accurate and easiest to use, just need this minor tweak would make it 10x better.

Last thing I can think of at the moment is the remote start timeouts. It cuts off whenever the frunk is opened, and you’re only allowed a total of two remote starts before it demands that you drive the car. I assume this is a legacy carry over from polluting ice vehicles, and such limitations are not necessary on the Mustang Mach E.

There’s no exposed engine under the frunk hood, so I don’t see why the car can’t be remote started and stay on when the frunk is opened, just like it can be remote started and stay on when the trunk is opened. Would be nice to be able to remotely start the vehicle and fully load up the frunk while the car is cooling/heating itself (just like when loading the trunk), without having to open the door manually start the car to keep it going.

Since there’s no polluting emissions coming out of this car that would a threaten anyone’s respiratory systems, I don’t see any problem with expanding the number of remote starts you’re allowed to have before driving the vehicle. The car shuts itself down after a while anyway, so it’s not like it’s going to be running all night. But I’ve had situations in the winter where it takes at least two remote starts to get the car sufficiently heated up. One day, I had to leave early for something, but couldn’t remote start the car as I had already used up the two remote starts the previous day to melt the ice off the glass. Removing the extremely limiting 2 remote start attempts would be awesome, especially for unexpected circumstances during cold climates.

Thank you so much, apologies for the really long thread! ? Gotta catch em when we can!

Let us know when you speak to him next!

This drives me nuts as well. Our other car (Audi) works as you describe and it's SO much easier/nicer when parking in very tight spaces.

Another issue related to the cameras is the darn cameras won't turn on above 5mph (or maybe above 4mph) and I frequently find myself at 6-7 mph when I need to turn on cameras and the car denies me for no good reason. Frustrating.

I’ll definitely pull this up when he walks by again. He was VERY nice and receptive to our discussion.

Bruh, you know how many times I’ve been redirected to make a u-turn at a two-lane intersection? I swing around, only to find my turning radius isn’t as tight as it should have been. Then I’m forced to wiggle my way into a quick 3-point turn before the other peeps red light turns green. Very embarrassing whenever that happens!

I’ve always thought the front camera would really come in handy in times like these. But then I’m not sure what the regulations are for having a live camera feed displayed on the main screen.

but then waaaiiiit a minute. Automaker T has the option for a live camera feed while driving at highway speeds! Surely it ain’t a big ask for a slight increase in speed tolerance before the camera shuts off???

Thank you so much, that’s great to hear! Do let us know what he says! I’m sure these suggestions will not only improve the experience we have with our cars, but will also go towards the development of future cars from Ford as well.

I get a notification on my phone when the car locks while walking away. Check your notification settings for the FordPass app.

Yeah that’s there, but it’s not always accurate as there’s no notification for when the door was last opened. So I can walk away with fob and the car will notify me that it was locked, but then someone in the family will unlock it from the house with the fob to grab something, then forget to lock it again. In that case, I’ll have the notification of when the car was last auto locked, but it will not be accurate as someone else came after me and manually unlocked the car, but forgot to lock it afterwards.

Yea that makes sense. A simple highlight of the locked or unlocked button in the app to show the state would be nice.

Double Honk issue:

I use the frunk to store my smelly gym clothes after workouts. The car will double honk if I didn’t shut the frunk completely to its satisfaction. Re-shut frunk stops it for me.

I am NOT complaining… I have been getting hammered by OTA updates this week… 4 since Monday. I just think it’s funny that I can tell when I’ve gotten OTA update because my radio has switched over to AM. They should maybe try to update that in one of their updates, lol.

My wife has issues with the car double honking at her, but it never seems to happen to me. What causes it?
Mine double honks if I leave my cell phone in the car and try to lock it with the key fob. Or if I leave the key fob in the car and try to lock it.

It’s actually ironic that all of this is happening. I was simply washing my MACH e in my driveway on Sunday. Two guys walk past my house and stop halfway down the next house and one of them asks me how I like my Mach e. Turns out he works for the Ford EV division and he said that Ford is all in on this EV platform. I actually gave my honest opinion to him about the software updates and he said he expects it to get very responsive in the coming weeks.
If you talk to him again, let him know there are many of us that have had no updates since August 2023. in fact, I called Ford hotline and they told me to get things going, I should drive around with my automatic headlights turned off for about a week and I should start receiving updates. No joke.

My Ford dealership has been super helpful the last 2.5 years and have done a great job taking care of my Mach-e and myself. But they did tell me that Ford will not pay them to try and get my updates going again. they would do it for me, but if would be hundreds, if not over $1000 to load all of the updates that I am missing. One of the service managers even suggested that I buy the equipment and do the updates myself because it would be much cheaper. He actually felt bad for my situation, but we both agreed that at least the car is running fine and most of the updates I am missing are bells and whistles and a few new features.

I am very happy with my car and for the most part there are no current issues.

Or send him over to Brea.

I'm just hoping none of their softward maintenance team came from CrowdStrike
