So, I've been using PAAK a lot more recently with mostly good success as my wife needs the fob, however I've ran into a small issue.

Is it possible to get around leaving your phone in the car and just using the door code to get entry and PAAK to start up the car?

Where I work I can't have my phone in the office. Normally I had been going to work with my fob and phone, get to work and I put my phone into airplane mode and keep my fob with me. Today however my wife had the fob and I ran into this issue. I tired keeping my phone in the car and just pushing the lock button (button below the keypad) but the car would not lock. Tried punching in my code followed by the lock button, car did not lock. So I went in and set my phone to airplane and made sure wifi/bluetooth was off. Tired locking the car again via the keypad and it would still not lock. Where I work, not really concerned with people breaking in, so I just left my phone in the car with airplane mode on. Was kind of hoping the car would just end up locking it's self. When I got back, car was still unlocked :( Turning off airplane mode allowed me to start the car without any issue, however I got the "no key detected" about 3 seconds after starting the car lol

Anyone know a way around this? Given we only get 1 fob, I can't image there is not a work around for a case like this.

Sounds like you're having an issue with the little padlock icon on the outside of the door?

There are some alternatives to that. Key fob and phone, obviously... But also other options:

Press the lock button inside the door before you close it.

Or after you've already exited the vehicle, hold down the 7-8 and 9-0 numbers on the driver's B-pillar keypad. The doors will lock.

That is what it was!! The dealer did show me two ways to lock it, and I could not remember the 2nd way. I've used the padlock button in the past, but I've always had my PAAK or fob with me. I'll have to try the 7-8 9-0 method tomorrow.

I've not tired pushing in the inside lock button. From past experiences if your door is open and you push the door's lock button the car just unlocks its self. I know my F150 I could not lock the door with the door open from the inside. I'll give that a shot too though, just don't like the idea of leaving my car unlocked, even if it has 20 facial recognition cameras facing it lol

OK to be fair, I haven't actually tried the inside lock button in this way. Let us know if it works. I have done the 7-8 + 9-0 thing plenty of times though and that works very reliably. (I do NOT ever leave my key fob inside the vehicle though.)

There are several places in San Diego where I would expect this to be a thing... but let's not go there. ;)

I have used the lock button on the driver side door when exiting. It shocked my wife that it worked. She doesn't like the walkaway feature because she doesn't like the audible alert and isn't sure if it locked without the audible alert. She's much happier now that she can just hit the inside lock button when she leaves the car.

why not just us the back up start code? I think you'd have to turn your phone off in the scenario you describe. I'm a fob guy tho so I'm not the best source of info.

So I tired it today at work. Left my cellphone in the car, pushed the padlock button and nothing. Pushed the 7-8 9-0 buttons and the car folded in the mirrors and locked. I tired pushing the door latch button and the car still remained locked. Even tried to push it a few times to just make sure and it would not open. When I got out of work, I tired the latch button again and it would not unlock. I punched in my door code and it unlocked. Pushed the start button, and it started... Not too sure how much I'm digging that aspect of it but at least PAAK did not fail lol

why not just us the back up start code?
Cause my password is kind of long and its just super annoying to have to do every day. I get pretty annoyed when PAAK does not work and I have to use it as is lol
