This may have already been addressed, but I didn't see a specific answer on this.

I've read how unreliable PAAk has been, and worse that is sucks your phone battery down big time. For these reasons, I have not yet set up my PAAK. Today made me rethink this....I temporarily misplaced my fob.

My question is, can I set up PAAK, but disable it from running until I decide to turn it on only when I need it?

Sure, just don’t leave the FordPass app running.
Cool....so to you use PAAK, I have to bring up the Ford Pass app?....and if I leave it closed PAAK does not independently run? Just what I wanted to hear....thanks much!

FYI, FordPass has used 1% of my battery today with background activity so it’s not a major problem.

Hmmm... this doesn't work for me. I can force close (stop) FP and my PaaK still works. I'm on Android so not sure if iPhones are the same.

@LRinker1 to answer your question a bit more specifically I haven't seen a way to do this other than the possibility that it will work like GeneralTso said on iPhones. The only couple options to disable PaaK that I've seen require you to re-enable it from scratch. It's a good suggestion though and it would be nice if they had such a thing.

Interesting. What if you forcibly disconnect the Bluetooth connection for PaaK? Does it stay disconnected?

It bounces right back for me. So on Android, although I normally have it muted, we have a persistent PaaK notification saying it's connected to the car. You can cancel it via the action button, but it comes back. Same if you kill the BT connection. Ofc you could turn off BT and that would work if you don't need it.

Do you have an iPhone GeneralTso?

Yup, I have an iPhone 12 Mini. PaaK works pretty well for me as long as I keep the FordPass app running in the background, but doesn't work at all if I kill the app.
Ok so to clarify, I would guess that most regular Android users consider stopping an app, closing it. Android force close will stop the app but other services can wake it, such as BT, which will resume PaaK. If you go into the app permissions and forcibly stop the app service then it will not restart until the app is opened again. That's a fairly unfamiliar process for most people. It could also be automated with Tasker but most people would be lost in Tasker. So it is possible. A long button press on FordPass, App Info, Force Stop would be the shortest route to get there.

Curious to know if any Android users have had minimal phone battery drain....and if the app otherwise works as expected. If I had a second fob, I wouldn't even consider activating PAAK. Thanks all for the comments.

Personally, my battery drain on 3.32 was sporadic. I had days where it was 4% and other days where it was 40%. I'll have to pay more attention to see why there was a difference.

I was going to say if you use an Apple phone, look into getting an AirTag for your fob so you won't lose it :)

The really bad battery issues I feel have be greatly improved. At least for me running Apple 13 Pro and I keep the app on in background all the time. less than 5% battery in last 24 hours with some driving in there as well

I installed PAAK on an old phone that I keep on a charger in my bedroom. That way it doesn't affect my main phone and I can always grab it if I need it.
