That still seems like a really long antiquated time. Whatever happened to fast rail. I guess that's only in Europe.
Fast would almost certainly mean higher cost. If they wanted speed, they would truck everything directly to dealers. It would be kind of cool if we could pay more to get our cars faster. Not sure I would do that, but it would be good to have the option. Would you pay $5,000 more to get your car in one week instead of one month?

BNSF carload freight schedule times appear to be 6-7 days on the route these cars take from KC to Richmond (yes, I found the BNSF Carload schedule site on the web).

For me, I know my car left KC on Oct 3 (after transferred by Jack Cooper on 9/28), so I'm thinking the phone status I can get on my car is just stale and somehow broken, and it's probably been moving and is going to show up in Richmond by Monday. Might be time to visit my dealer again by mid-week if I haven't heard anything sooner.

My car went via BNSF from the Argentine Ramp to the port in San Diego in 7 days. It's fairly quick. UP and CSX are also fairly fast to that point. Since I wasn't picking the car up in California, I have no idea as to the wait before it's trucked to the dealer though. In retrospect, I'd preferred to have picked the MME up in the SFO bay area, visited some family and friends in the area, driven it to my folks in Idaho then back to a port for shipment home. If we actually convert the Lightning reservation to an order that's what I'll do (the rez is with an SFO Bay area dealer).

The shipping doesn't make sense. I'm going to stop torturing myself. My car has a BNSF prefix but looking at the map, all of those go out west, so I just don't know
The thing about this type of shipping is that you're not the customer of the logistics company (UP/BNSF etc). In fact, Ford may very well not be the customer either. You're not even the entity they're delivering the vehicle to. The system is set up for large handlers of freight whether shippers or recieving, not an individual. I was fortunate in that I got almost daily updates with the VV report. But it's really nearly an information black hole once it leaves the factory.

Yeah unfortunately my dealer isn’t the most responsive so getting regular VV reports is tough. My wife thinks he’s less inclined to work with me because I locked him into X plan at MSRP and he can’t do a market adjustment on me so he’s not motivated to respond

Ship date of 9/21 and still no pals update, hopefully it was on the same train as the later shipped cars that have been received earlier this week.
would love to get it before November or else I’ll lose a $750 incentive.

I don't understand the mentality of some car salesmen. If you go into just about any car dealership these days, they are all sitting around or milling around with pretty much nothing to do. Why not take some of that time being lazy and put it into your customers who have committed to purchase a car from you? Don't you think that person might actually purchase another car in the future? Isn't that someone you want to establish a good relationship with, so that he/she comes to YOU for their next car? Seriously. I don't understand them at all. Do they think they will be more successful or less successful if they take good care of their customers? Or are they just waiting for the next easy sale to be handed to them without any effort on their part? Bah. One thing is for sure: it would suck being their manager.

I have an idea, what if you contact the GM and ask him for the VVR? Maybe the salesman has to ask the GM to run the report for him, so going to the source could be faster.

Yeah I don’t get it. I won’t buy another car from this dealer and had already thought I would change dealers with this car if it didn’t mean I’d start all over on waiting

They're all sleezeballs at my dealer, including the GM.

I prefer to deal with the GM's at dealerships right from the start., They generally get it. If they don't, ya move on.

If the cost to truck one car is $5000, I'm definitely in the wrong business!

Too late for that, can't change where my car is ending up.... I still have a backup order 2 mo out if I have to pull the ripcord on the first dealer.

I have never trucked a car from Mexico so I just threw that number out there as an example. But it is an interesting idea to consider how much more you would pay to cut 3 weeks out of the delivery process. Because it would definitely cost more.

sadly, I checked this morning and my status is still "ASN" and zero changes... Im starting to get agitated with this whole ordeal. You literally cant plan around when the car is going to arrive AT ALL.
