Like many I've been waiting for my GT to complete production and ship. My ship date continues to push out. While I've been waiting I've stayed close to this Forum and the issue of windshield to pano roof alignment is becoming more of a concern for me. Would people who have this issue post here with their details please? Is the alignment issue only with vehicles that are in the windshield / roof recall time period? This issue might be a deal killer for me.

Since there is an active recall, or TSB for the issue, new cars built will have the issue corrected at the factory. At this point, the have identified the issue and corrected it, so cars going forward won't have it.

Unless your car was built a while back and has been setting for a long time, it could possibly have the issue, but your dealer would likely have to fix it before it was sold since its an actual recall.

A side note, my GT had a production date of 8/31 and got its chip and shipped today. How long have you been waiting?

My build date on my premium was in early July. My pano seam to the windshield is flawless. I think they got it worked out. No wind noise, clean lines, etc.

My car had a production date of 8/18 with a chip hold after. My dealer ETA has gone from 10/2 to 10/31. My original order date was 4/28. No new information recently.

My ETA was 10/2, then went to 10/31, then went to NA, then went back to 10/2 and then today it shipped and still says 10/2, which is almost certainly not possible. But sounds like your car may be shipped soon.

Looking at several late model Mach E's and one GTPE the alignment looked good. However... there is a major design flaw that has the roof higher than the windshield exposing the vulnerable edge of the pano roof to rock impacts. The attempt by Ford to protect this edge is executed poorly with a rubber surrounding that on some builds isn't even secured to the glass.

The way to protect this edge is with an aftermarket T gasket. This is what I plan on doing otherwise it's only a matter of time before the roof cracks from rock impact.

The alignment issue is a separate one where the height is uneven. Hopefully that issue is behind us.

So my roof edge got hit by a rock. I've attached a couple of pictures. GTPE built in 8/21. Can this be repaired, or because this is the edge of the glass, it is replacement time?

Would this be covered by the recall for the roof?

And where does one obtain said "T" gasket?

Thanks!

A glass shop can look at that and determine if there is anything that could be done to stop that from cracking and spreading. This is covered by your insurance comprehensive coverage, or separate glass coverage. I have $0 deductible, so I would get a new roof.

Why would a rock hitting your roof be covered by any recall of any type, much less a recall that simply puts foam and adhesive inside?

I too have the complete, no deductible glass coverage. I learned the hard way two cars ago. :)

However, when I tried to do an online claim for glass (it goes through Safelite), there is no option to pick the roof, only the windshield, doors, and liftgate.

I was reading some of the posts about the roof line being too high, so not sure it is supposed to have that leading edge exposed like that, or at the very least, it should be reseated. As others have mentioned, the car is a rock magnet, especially here in Seattle.

Pick up the phone and call your insurance company if the online system doesn't work.

Yes, that is how it looks. 4.4mm is the spec. There is a TSB to check roofs on 2021s built on or before 2/15/21. https://www.macheforum.com/site/thr...d-noise-built-on-or-before-15-feb-2021.10791/

Have a Job 2, August 2021 build Premium and when I took delivery, it had a pretty sizeable gap between the windshield and the pano roof that was causing a ton of wind noise and which looked ripe for the sort of rock collision you endured.

Tried out a couple of solutions and ended up with this as a winner:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09CCR7QH3?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details

Stupid easy to install, cheap, eliminated the roof noise and provides a slight bumper that deflects rocks from the glass roof. After reading the horror stories on the forums of dealers trying to replace and reseat the entire glass top as part of the recall, I said screw it, I'll do it myself and so far, this has lasted over 8 months on top of the car.
