I took mine in yesterday too. They told me it usually takes about a week. I didn't need a loaner because my daughter's '16 Escape is unused right now. That's a great little car by the way. I also need the Stuck on Power up 1.7 (or whatever the # is) fix done. She had no idea what I was talking about but I gave her page 1 of the corrective procedures so they can reference it.

I left feeling like I was leaving my kid at nursery school for the first time. Then, one of the service people (as opposed to clerical person) chimed in. He overheard us talking. Said to make sure she calls the glass company to confirm the appointment for the next day. He said they take off the glass and the glass specialist takes it from there. I didn't remember about the breakage concerns and back orders for broken windshields, but at least he seemed to know what was going on and they've done it before so I felt better. What's the odds I have the Notes feature and Sirius alerting me to Black Sabbath tunes when I get the car back??? Fingers crossed!

My dealer, (Body Shop) brings in a glass co., has had her since Tuesday. I have not heard a peep as of yet. Hope all is well. For those of you who have had the recall; how long did it take?
4 days but they also did the software updates approved by Ford.

Mine was completed in 2 days. Unfortunately they did not upload the service record to Ford so Ford still thinks my car needs the recall.

Keep in mind that a 3rd party glass installer could give a rat's behind as to whether they break a windshield or not.

Removing and reinstalling should result in breakage of 2 - 3% max per my dealer.

He told you this and you still let him take your car? You spend a lot of time on this forum, so you know that's not true, right?
I had mine done they did in fact break the windshield while removing it. Waited 10 days for a new windshield. But they didn't remove the glass roof for the repair just added more adhesive.

I can't even get an appointment to get the glass recall done. I had an appointment in December at AutoNation Ford in Littleton Colorado and they kept the car for two weeks then returned it saying that they couldn't get it done. I tried today with Groove Ford in Centennial Colorado and they said that I should check back in 5-6 months to see if they had any glass available then. Anybody know of any dealer in the Denver area that can actually take care of this? Fortunately, I don't seem to have any obvious problem with the glass as is, but I'm confused by why some people seem to have no issue getting it done and I haven't been able to after 6 months of trying to get an appointment.

Nothing about the roof or windshield recalls is visible. Roll the car and you might find out.

I will say, Just looking at some of the history of cars I've looked up, there is a pretty high rate of windshields breaking in the process. I haven't been paying close attention to that, but have noticed several with that note in there.

It also could be that the glass company they are using just sucks and they break all the ones they do, while other dealers might use a company that has a better success rate.
^^^Exactly this.^^^...I had a good conversation with the Service Manager (not the Service Guy or Service Writer or Service Dude) of the body shop of my dealer and with his 25 years or so of experience he said there is a difference in "glass installers". The guy he has that comes in is excellent (he's had a bad one in the past)....hasn't had a single break with the over two dozen they've had done.

Well, I’ll find out later today (hopefully) as the plan is that my car will be done this afternoon).

Mine took all week. The glass place sent their mobile unit to the dealer to do the work. When finished, however, the windshield leaked so they drove the car to the glass place to re-do the windshield.

So far so good nearly 2 months later.

Roof can detach and hurt/kill someone.
Guess I’ll have to try to avoid that :)
The point I was making is that you have zero ability to see any issues. Whether your windshield is properly attached or not is impossible to know. Whether your glass roof is going to detach at highway speeds and hit someone else is impossible to know. The windshield is an integral part of crash protection.

Both of these are safety recalls for a reason.

When I went in to my local dealership in socal for the recall, I was told to wait for it if it wasn't urgent. Apparently they did it for two cars before and it didn't turned out well. The extra thermal paste got in on the interior and damaged or messed up the look. They also said they don't give a new glass unless the original glass got damaged during the process.
