The dealer has had my Mach E for 2 weeks now> They windshield installer broke it trying to remove it. It took 2 weeks to get a new one. Then they broke the rear view mirror. That part is another 5 days out.
They did 1 of the software updates but haven't done my state inspection yet because it won't pass without the mirror.

They are killing me. I didn't get a loaner because I have my 2000 Trans Am to drive.

I have this overwhelming urge to set off the horn and lights on them..... but I won't.

Sorry to hear! It has been strongly suggested throughout the forum that prior to getting the glass recall work done you confirm how many cars they've done it on and make sure they order and have on hand an extra windshield.

Can't go back in time, but it sounds like the dealer is doing what they can to get you back on the road. Just be patient, if you like, call Ford corporate and open a case and tell them you want a month's payment covered since you basically won't have had it for an entire month. Should also talk to the dealer and see if they can get your gas receipts reimbursed!

My recall was done back in March and took 3 weeks, the glass shop broke the windshield, then when the 1st replacement showed up after 11 days, it was also broken.

Of course, since then I have had two chips show up in the new windshield already. I fixed those myself with a RainX kit, so far so good, no cracks showing up.

I'm doing my best to be patient. They said the glass company has done multiple Mach E's but they don't keep a windshield on hand. But how did they break the rear view mirror?

I guess I'm the lucky one (so far).
Waited a couple of months for my appointment to do 21S42 and 21C22 recalls. Dealer told me it would take 3 days and arranged for a rental.
Received a call the next morning that it was all done - 1 day. So easy . . . .
Thank you Vista Ford in Woodland Hills, CA.

A rock hit my windshield a few days ago and there's a foot-long crack in it. My insurance coverage is through Chubb, which has an arrangement with Safelite for windshield work. They booked me in to Safelite quickly, supposed to drop it off day after tomorrow. I was surprised they had the OEM Mach E windshield in stock. Is there something special about the windshield that makes it hard to replace?

The VIN tag sticks up a bit and if the tech isn’t careful, he/she could damage the tag. Otherwise, it’s just like any other car with a front facing windshield camera. ??

This sort of thing is exactly why many including myself will never willingly bring our vehicles in to get this recall work done by dealers!

I would be skeptical that Safelite had an OEM windshield in stock, since most dealers don't even stock them. However, I could be wrong. If it has the FOMCO on it, then it may be stock. Some of the windshield installers tend to supply non-OEM windshields, that is how they do it so cheap and that is why insurance companies love them too, CHEAP. Sometimes non-OEM is just as good as OEM but I personally would not go with a non-OEM windshield. Not confident it is as good, safe and has the quality.

They claim to have an outside windshield tech for it. They should get my mirror tomorrow and have him install it. I've forgotten what my car looks like at this point.

I had not yet completed the recall and took a rock to the windshield leading to replacement. My only option locally for any quick turnaround was Safelite. Thankfully, an OEM part and it appears they did a really good job.

My dealer could never seem to get me in for the recall as they wanted a windshield on hand, and then of course once my windshield broke I couldn't exactly do the recall.

The Safelite tech was telling me it was WAY too easy for him to remove the old windshield and the glue just came right off. That was the feedback before I told him about the recall. I guess it made his process easier but I could tell he was legitimately surprised with how bad it was sealed.

Now to figure out how to get off this recall list...

Got the windshield replaced this morning at Safelite, and I made it a point to quiz the staff about whether it was OEM or not. He confirmed the replacement glass was OEM and that they had a few in stock. I live in the Seattle area and every other car is an EV in my neighborhood (although Mach E's are still relatively rare compared to the ubiquitous Model 3s), so perhaps they're just prepared.

I asked at pickup if they had any problems with installation or calibration - they said everything went smoothly and easily. Now if only the HVBJB situation was so easily resolved....!

For those of you that got the windshield replaced, does it have the sound treatment?

I’ve been waiting for a windshield for 4 weeks now. My car wasn’t part of the recall, I took a rock into the windshield on the freeway. Repair center is telling me up to 8 weeks!
