Why is it that everytime my 2022 Mach E comes out of the garage another problem appears.

Driving on the motorway and the Park Brake Malfunction warning appeared on the dashboard, however I can't get the car booked in for over four weeks and neither the dealer or Ford can confirm if I am doing further damage by continuing to drive the car.

I have seen that this is a common problem in the States and that there has been a European recall for this, but my dealer has stated that they have never heard of this before.

Has anyone had a similar problem and how was it resolved.

They’re lying!

If they haven’t heard of this fault which appears common across all markets as far as I can tell.

Not sure there’s an actual Safety Recall over here.

Doubt it’s doing any damage.

Appears yours failed as mine did in park brake off state which just means the park brake on the faulted side don’t apply.

In that scenario there should still be park brake on other side and also park lock in transmission unless it’s a newer car where I heard they stopped installing transmission park locks .

It’s more problematic when it fails in the park brake applied state with obvious consequences - car don’t budge!

It should be covered under warranty, mine was.

Good luck getting it fixed very soon.

Don’t suppose this is related to a fault that’s just popped up on my 2023 Mach e, parking sensor malfunction? It appears none of the sensors are working as they don’t beep. The rear camera still works and I’ve washed all the sensors including the two just below the number plate but no joy. Can’t see any damage to any of the sensors either. If I go into the sync system the parking sensor icon slider button is greyed out and you can’t re-enable.
It popped up when the other half was half way through driving into work this morning apparently but I would take that with a pinch of salt!!!

no, yours is the sensors inside the bumper and or wires to them. A code is probably set in the ecm that flags them as broken. You can try clearing codes. And if it keeps up, start a thread.

My lefthand (N/S) parkbrake (handbrake) failed with the warning as the OP describes. The purple/white wire about an inch from the connector broke (see photo). It looked like it had corroded but stripping the insulation back, the multi-strand wires were clean. Soldered a new bit of wire in, insulated it with a couple of strink teflon tubes and the warning light cleared. Common problem, but no recall in the UK.

I’m doing a 3,800 mile road trip around France over 37 days in May/June and this is the only issue I’m concerned about happening while I’m away. Ordered the Motorcraft WPT1506 Wiring Kit from the US (arriving today). At least then if it breaks and immobilises my vehicle in rural France I’ve got the part and instructions to hand.

Suggest you also take a 12V soldering iron, solder, lengths of vehicle wire, shrink Teflon tubes, a lighter (to shrink the Teflon tubes) and maybe some crimp connectors + crimp tool. You never know. Also consider Mach-e jacking pads, jack and wheel nut brace (far easier to do the repair with the wheel off). Link to the pads is below (there are cheaper ones on Amazon). Best of luck 👍

Sorry forgot - and some self amalgamating rubber tape to seal the harness after the repair.
