Parking assist?

I am in a parking lot and press the button and it pops up navigate to parking lot? I'm I doing something wrong? Or does it only work in some parking lots?

It means you don’t have that module. They took it out due to a parts shortage, no 2023 has it installed, and Ford has decided to remove it from all Ford vehicles going forward. No one used it because it sucks. Now it just brings up parking spots on the map.

I had it and one OTA removed it without asking… Grrrr. Now this push button is useless. IMO, They should make it pop up the frunk…

The same for my 2022 Powerboost F150. Fortunately it was the ONLY delete on a fully dolled up KingRanch.
However, I could fetch an IPMA from Ebay with the chip and retrofit the Park Assist feature. I haven't, and wouldn't just for something I care so little about. But since that time Ford has added a feature called Hitch Assist and that's a tempting novelty! Probably wouldn't use it much but it would be cool to experience.

Trust me, you don’t actually want it. It’d be one thing if it actually worked but it is terrible. It takes forever, isn’t intuitive, and when you finally have a chance to use it when someone’s not behind you wondering why you’re stopped thing to navigate through the process… it immediately tries to back into another car.

Best thing I can say about it is that it never hit another car, it just heads straight for them, slams on the brakes, gives up and makes you take over and fix it and finish parking.

^^^ Understand its not great but would love to have the additional side sensors active. Also wonder if they make improvements OTA as well?

The salesman said the car had self parking -- which this thread has corrected, My other question was about the hatchback. The salesman said it has hands free foot activated lift gate, but I can't get it to work. Is this another feature Ford deleted?

THAT feature is restorable, though there's some effort. EV-Vida sells the module and there's a YouTube video covering the process to restore. Not for the faint of heart, but do-able.

What side sensors? All the sensors are active at all times.

On cars that don't have parking assist, the side ultrasonic sensors don't show up on screen. Just back & front.

Does your car not have the sensors or just doesn’t show the proximity to other objects?
There might be an issue with your car. Try having someone walk next to the car while it’s in drive.
