Perpetual Software Updates

So, for the past two weeks, my Mach E keeps telling me there is a major update scheduled “tonight”. And that my car will be unusable for like 7 minutes. I keep saying Fine, Do it and shut up. I keep losing my radio presets. And it keeps happening. Are we really getting 3 major SYNC updates in such a short time? And why can’t the updates remember my presets ?

Why are you people so polarized that you can’t even try to understand the intention of the topic?
Firstly, as a software developer, it is fully valid to ask whether tiny updates could be packed together instead of the barrage of generic “small improvements here and there” updates. Secondly, losing presets / configurations is a hassle. It’s like the fun bug with remote starting that put you or car into guest profile. Luckily that seems to get an OTA soon to sort it out. Lastly, it’s not one or the other! One can be annoyed by the OTAs and the bugs WHILE still be happy for them. The world is not like a computer, binary (unless we talk quantum computers but let’s keep it simple), try to see the spectrum.

yeah the "I'm not getting any updates" trend morphed rapidly in the "I'm getting too many updates" trend.

Just as a data point, I received two OTAs in a row this week that went fine with no apparent problems created. First one was for "audio improvements" the second for "HVAC improvements". Not really sure what those improvements were, but as I said, all went fine.

I didn't lose any presets, but one of the updates did turn the"engine noise" back on which was odd...

Don’t forget that many OTAs do multiple things. You may know about one thing you can see and asking with it receive several other changes that prepare your car for something else coming up.

Ford Pass perpetually tells me I have an update scheduled within the next 24 hours. But I swear I see no results.
