Phone as a key (PAAK) stopped working yesterday. I tried resetting several times but did not have time to call support until today. The pairing process generated error code 7. Support tech told me it is a known issue affecting Android cell phones - at least my Samsung S22 is affected. Ford is working on a solution. Support tech could not vouch for Google but I am assuming that Android technicians are also involved. Ford hopes to have a solution in 7-10 days. Until then, and after, I'll begin taking my transponder as well as cell phone.

Mine started misbehaving again about a week or 10 days ago as well I have an S24 Ultra. Most other posts I've seen about this have mentioned Samsung phones so I'm guessing it's a similar issue to what happened last Fall and we'll have to wait for another update from Samsung and/or Google to fix it. In the meantime I have about a 75% success rate of disabling and re-enabling Bluetooth inside the car to get it to start.

Pixels are working fine on the latest Android build, so guessing Samsung has to fix

That sounds like issues I'm experiencing too, same phone, S24 Ultra. I park in my garage but since my phone never disconnects the car won't do the 'walk-away lock with horn beep' that I have set up. So I just leave the car unlocked in the garage. But now, over the past few days or so, when I go to leave, I press the door circle to open the driver door and the car powers down, the mirrors fold in and the doors lock. This is beyond maddening. I'm about to go back to carrying my fob and ditch PaaK. 😠

I have used a FOB for over four years and it has worked 100% of the time. Never had to replace the battery yet.

The point for me is that with a wallet case on my phone I literally just have to remember my phone and I can walk out the door. That big bulky fob ruins the experience for me. I'll do it if I have to but Paak has been really enjoyable for me.

The Ultra is close to 8 inches without the wallet case, the FOB is about 3 inches.
So why is the FOB big and balky?

For 1 it's the biggest key I've ever had and has the same functionality as a 2015 Subaru key which is less than half the size, and for 2 I'd be carrying my phone anyway, why would I want something in my other pocket too, if it can be avoided? It doesn't have to be a good enough reason for you, but PaaK was a pretty nice benefit to the car I already love having.

My S22+ PAAK works fine now. I had some issues a week or so ago possibly around the time of an update.

Do you know which kind of update it was? Google play, security, or Android? I just updated to Android 16 a few days ago, but my security is from 9/1 and Google play is from 8/1.

It was a security update installed on on Sept 28th. Looks like Android 16 wasn't pushed yet. Google play is Sept 1.

Delete PaaK and then set it up again and that should solve the problem.
