Anyone else have an issue where the music audio is interrupted/skips whenever you change applications in the Main touchscreen?

For instance, I'll be listening to Amazon Music station in Android Auto (wired, as wireless Android Auto connection stopped working), and if I were to pull up the Tire Pressure app, the music cuts out as it is interrupted while loading the app data. Same for music over a Bluetooth connection (music app running on phone, connected via BT on the MME). SiriusXM and FM radio do not cut out when switching apps. The behaviour mimics a CD skipping (remember those?).

I've never had this before and want to see if there is a quick fix before I lose my mind with the radio.

Yep, the CPU in the infotainment isn't nearly powerful enough to run multiple apps yet alone stream bluetooth audio as well. I just don't switch apps when I want music lol.

I definitely used to have this issue but I haven’t noticed it in a while so maybe one of the recent updates fixed it? Or maybe I’ve just gotten lucky. I’ll need to test it out tomorrow on my commute.

Yes. I notice it when I hit the camera button if I want to look at the parking lines when pulling into a spot.

It's disappointing I don't have a smooth, snappy, jitter-free infotainment system on a $50K+ automobile.

Unfortunately ford cheaped out on sync 4 and it's powered with a mobile derived CPU from 2015. It's essentially a galaxy s7.

Don't forget Ford had supply constraints on chips like everybody else on the planet did. So I'm sure that "S7" is good enough for now until we get updates to run it more efficiently.

Thanks everyone for confirming it's not just me experiencing the issue, and as well as identifying root cause. I don't see sticking with SiriusXM in the future, so I'm just going to have to accept that it is what it is :(

I'd be curious to see if Apple Car Play users deal with the same issue.

Wondering how an OTA will upgrade the CPU? When they designed the car there was no chip shortage.

Hi there! If you send over a DM with your VIN and Ford dealer info, I can look into your concerns on my end.

I've had this issue since I bought my MEGT new in May. Always thinking it was normal MO and never thought to post it on forum. Thanks for the initiative. If you get any type of remedy/explanation from Ford I'd appreciate a follow up post.

The system is dated with insufficient hardware to meet demands. No amount of running a vin will change this. This is why the chinese were throwing a fit because it's hot garbage. Ford should man up like the those responsible for the chinese MMEs who are replacing APIMs with ones that are up to the task.

I got a laugh out of this one.

What on earth are you going to do with a VIN and dealer to fix this? The entire infotainment system is underpowered. Laggy response to button presses... audio hiccup when pushing other buttons... long start-up time...

Don't get me wrong, it is functional for what it is, but definitely a weak point on the car.

Yes. It's irritating, and a contributing factor is underpowered hardware as mentioned several times.

However, I will say that it's possible that future software updates may improve the situation, as software updates have already somewhat improved the issue for me.

It still happens, but it's better than it was, and overall performance of the Sync system is better than when I first bought the car as well.
