My first BEV was almost 25 years ago (January 15, 1999 is when we took delivery). A 1999 Honda EV+. Still driving our 2002 Rav4EV that we drove off the showroom floor and we own/have owned 6 BEVs (the first was a lease because we could not purchase it) and two "range extended EVs" (Chevy Volt) over the last 25 years.

My wife has not pumped gasoline in over 21 years (not because of full service or living in Oregon or NJ).

Sonny Boy and I went halfies for his used 2020 Audi E-tron. So technically I was a part owner of the E-Tron. Drove it for him from Wash DC to Louisville Kentucky, on the coldest day & night of January 2022. THAT little jaunt taught me a lot about Winter EV ranges and how to plan.

The E-tron is a wonderful car but it's WAYY heavier than my AWD ER Mach E and its road range is quite a short one. On a warm day Sonny Boy is lucky to get 200 miles. Might be the way he drives that beast

We are never going back to gasoline cars.

First EV of any kind. It was the right time, and the right vehicle. Never cared for the look/design of any of the Teslas, or other CCS EVs until the MME was announced. And Electrify America was just getting to the point of filling in our frequent travel routes.

Would be nice to get some perspective from folks on this topic.

1. I am only talking about BEV

2. The use case I’m trying to get at is whether people are seeing Teslas are their ONLY choice when it comes to diving into their first BEV purchase OR they’re willing to give MachE or other non Tesla EV a try now that so many options are available.

3. Back when I got my Model 3 in 2018, I think Leaf was the only other option but it was largely a very limited in town ownership use case. Now thankfully there are so many options. And yet, many flock to Tesla because of the strong network and street publicity and range advertising.

My 2022 Mach E is my first. I did not consider a Tesla. My daughter just bought an Ioniq 6 and did not consider a Tesla based on her opinion of Musk.

Wanted to go BEV for several years now. My '23 Premium MME is my first. I only briefly entertained the idea of a Tesla when they were the only realistic choice and before Musk went off the deep end. But I wasn't in the market yet. When the F-150 Lightning was being developed I thought I would get one of those, but they were a bit out of my price range and too hard to get initially. Convinced myself I didn't need a pickup anyway (I rarely do, and when I do I can always rent), got the MME, and have no regrets. I never plan to go back to ICE.

That Rapid Red AWD Ext. Range Premium - picked it up today, nice discount plus zero interest rates. Liked the dealership. Felt just a little awkward switching from 1 pedal to cruise control to Blue Cruise, to two pedal. But I can see it all getting easier very quickly. Took a bit to figure out the car was turned off! Condo will have my parking spots with the Level 2 working by Friday.

First BEV. Had two hybrids and a plug-in hybrid before the Mach-E. Considered a Tesla 3 and a VW ID.4 before deciding on the MME.

Had a VW eGolf and was hooked on the silent ride and quick pickup (but it's nothing close to MME or Tesla).
The only thing that I really disliked about my eGolf was the range... Sticker advertised 110, I could never get more than 90.
After 7 years of ownership, I could not get more than 45 - it's currently in the shop getting couple of new battery modules. While I was waiting for battery to get repaired, I decided to pull the trigger on MME :)
Same for us. Bought an off-commercial lease 2019 VW e-Golf in summer of 21 and we were hooked. We regularly get 125 miles out of her and it’s a great size for the wife. Hoping VW follows through with bringing ID.GTi to the USA. For us a small EV and the MME are perfect pairing.
